There aren't any empty or possible plots next to the stadium or in the Besiktas district.
IMO BJK is too "nostalgia". If they will stay here than they will not be able to compete with the other 2 one.

This tower will be demolished in some years

Beşiktaş lives in a dream. Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray is getting strong in both organization and finance, but BJK doesn't do anything. They built two skyscrapers but witht he bad administration, the oewrs won't bring anything as income, and they have some legality problems. They have to move from the down town. This stadium is a production of ignorance. Nobody in the world builds a stadium at the city center, next to the Iperial Palace and historical state buildings. Okay stadium had an historical and monumentl view in the past. But today it is deformed and lost its orginal monumental shape.

Well I don't know Istanbul only from some pictures...
Besiktas stadiums is in the center. Do the fans of the club represent a more higher social class face to Galatasaray or Fener? Being in the center might have a meaning then.
Fenerbahce is on the other side of the city, access to that side is pretty hard thinking there's only one big bridge over there and another one up north so it's pretty stressing for someone who lives on the other side, i think Besiktas fans will hate this option as much as a new one as far as Olympic Ataturk is.
Are there any permanent buses crossing the Bosphorus Bridge? If not what would they do, swim to the other side if no money for a taxi?

IMO the design in these pics would be the best way forward for Besiktas. A capacity of 35-40k would be ideal as they do not and will never attract bigger crowds like Gala or Fener. This design is perfect considering they cannot touch the historic "thing" at one end.

Capacity of this project was 35,000
Average attendance is currently around 25,000-28,000.
So in a more modern stadium with a roof i am sure BJK will have a attendance of +35,000

Besiktas has a potential to play in front of 40k if 42k project put into practice. Because of strong wind coming from the bosphorus freezes u, you can easily get pneumonia

http://www.spor3.com/news_detail.php?id=442602

while a visiting of Besiktas President Yildirim Demirören at the President of Turkey Abdullah Gül because of an invitation to the opening of the Besiktas Fulya Project on February 12th, Abdullah Gül promised to look after the Stadium Project and to look for the premissions to build this stadium.

And for the new stadium there are new possible sponsors one is the Emirates Group and the Türk Telekom.

There are some new informations.
Looks like they will start this may. They just need the permission of the memorial council.
But some says they have to reduce it to 38,000-39,000 while some news says it will stay at 42,000.

According to a newspaper the satdium will cost 110 Mil Euro (before it was 80 Mil Euro) and it will have 120 suites (before 68 suites)

Are they going ahead with the HOK proposal? I don't think they should leave because as Pele said and rightfully so Besiktas play in the best setting in the world for a stadium. I like the horseshoe design more. The HOK design is good as well but I prefer the Horseshoe it keeps the view intact.

As far as i know they will stay at the HOK project.
Actually you see more trees than water

In a Horseshoe design capacity would be just 35,000.
Even 42,000 is pretty low for Besiktas.

Ertugrul Günay is just tourism minister.
But many chambers and architects are against this project.
Many say that the current stadium and the skyscraper behind it have to be destroyed.

IMO it will be like at GS.
First old stadium plot. Than city and politicians say no.
Like GS new plot somewhere else.

the new stadium can be like monaco's Stade Louis 2.Location of Inonu Stadium is superb.Bjk should consider their new stadium more carefully. They must work with rewarded designers.I didn't like the current project.it's really shoddy.

Problem is that location :p
The current area is one of the most used direction in istanbul and between the 3 crowded districts. Even with the current capacity it is enough to smash up traffic , building a rather bulky stadium over same spot would just make it worse.
I don't have a problem with the project. It looks quite well and elegance , compared to other projects of turkey. As i have said , they just should build it somewhere else than besiktas , especiall somewhere is far away than Dolmabahce. We already have suzer plaza there which ruins landscape , there is no need in another boil in same area.
