This one is too complicated! It would take forever to build such a thing. Club management should present the project to the public ASAP because fans are getting impatient and too many speculations are flying around. By the way, Istanbul is no mediterranean so clear roof would be OK I think.

I am not familar with building processes, but due to its repeating architecture, couldnt that be build with precasted concrete elements?

I am really excited what kind of design will be build. Istanbul is really tranforming into the football heaven of derbies.

Whos paying for this stadium? I dont understand how Besiktas have found the funds to build a big stadium after spending plenty of there money on transfers...This cost of this stadium will go up and up as they are using land in the city were building any building will go through struggles!

Sponsor is paying a part of it ( You pay, you 'sell' system ) and a part of it comes from Besiktas itself. 120mil are the planned costs and yearly revenue is expected to be 65 mil euro a year at least. So its very profitable + more comfort for fans. Furthermore, we spend like 11 mil euro for transfers this season compared to last few years its nothing. Approximatly 10/20 mil euro comes from uefa cup tv rights alone + thanks to the selling of the rights for the Super Lig, every team gets more money this year compared to last seasons and last but not least, the stadium is packed every week

how it suits istanbul's "multicultural architecture" when this mass in the picture has not even any aesthetical element or architectural style??
if your multicultural architecture definition is slum arcihtecture you absolutely right but i do not think this image/model!? can be taken seriously as a subject or option offers for new project.
already it seems not to scaled (model looks nearly 2 times higher but horizontal dimensions fits in the same/current area)
xwe can see structure contour rather grow if we compared horizontal dimenions with appearing height according to picture.
and already (thanks to god or reconstruction regulations) this structure will not to be allowed with its apprearing height.

small and old but i think that no building even the most technologic and bigger built cant take this beautiful building's place.
a summer night, during the match; watching the team together amazing sight; dolmabahce, sea and passing ferries
i know these are not necessary for a football stadium, but inonu stadium actually very special for istanbul and besiktas.
i hope project approach will be emotional as much as spectucular arena imaginary
and maybe not all but some of beatiful memories remain in the new project.

According to the BJK board the new one will have the same height of the old one (because of its historical area).

So we will see a new design.

IMO it will have 2 tiers (the HOK one had a businessseats tier between 1st and 2nd tier) and one suit ring like at Schalke.

Still think that 42,000 will be too small for BJK in 10-20 years

Old Inönü had an cap. of 21,000. Average was 16-18k.

After expansion cap. rised to 32k. Average rised to 25-28k

playing in front of 42.000 mad fans at the heart of your own neighborhood= priceless
I think it is very important that we stay in dolmabahce area. it is worth compromise from capacity. besides, stamford bridge and the new juve stadium are both 42.000 seaters. besiktas will play full capacity when the new temple is finished.

But Chelsea wants to built a new 60k stadium and Juve's one is possible to expand.

as far as I know chelsea do not want to move to a new location. they deny new stadium talks. if besiktas moved to a far corner of the city, attendance would decline for sure. it has become a match-day-tradition for the fans to meet with fellow fans in besiktas, drink a couple of beers and walk to the stadium along the dolmabahce road. I am glad that the club respects this.

sercan, you seem to be quite knowledgeable on the stadium construction business. can you speculate as to when the project will be announced? the president says it will take at most two years to finish the project.

If they stay at HOK Sports the new project will be presented maybe in 3-5 months.

Than the bid for the construction etc.

So maye in 1 year they will start. 2 year construction is normal. Could be faster with more precast elements, but unlike in Europe workers are cheaper than precast.
So maybe in 2014 we can see BJK in the new stadium.

I know the special atmosphere, but come on. You are Besiktas JK
In some years 42,000 will be too small.

BTW the same special atmosphere was in Mecidiyeköy for the GS fans. IMO BJK could fill a 50k stadium outside the Besiktas district

That is false, Chelsea have wanted to expand for years, and the past few years Abrohomvic wanted earls court arena 1 and 2 (as its being demolished in a few years) as there new home... This has been rejected as the area wouldnt cope with 60 thousand people...

The president has recently announced that construction will begin as of late may. Capacity will be around 42.500.
