This should have been considered for the new Mane Garrincha National Stadium:

But its arch looks too similar to that of Wembley Stadium (and no one wants a stadium like this to be built in Brasilia) and the seating configuration looks different from the existing and future stadiums.

Is this the Niemeyer's proposal for Maracanã (40's)?

My gosh!. Niemeyer was really visionary. That could be without dudes an actual stadium design.

Say it yourself!

Just 'cause he's not making "concrete half-moons" at the dozens and spreading around your cities

His inspirational times (achitecturaly speaking) are long gone...

I meant being able to be a reasonably happy contributing working at 101 years old, your opinions on his work and politics may be what they are (personally I like some it, lots of the stuff in Brasilia, and some of his stuff in Paris) but you have got to respect the longevity and love for what he does.

I now grow accustomed to the design of new roof in the Mane Garrincha National Stadium. However, the shape of the stands need to be changed. Rio had recieved the 2016 Olympics last Friday and I thought about a final change in the new stadium's design.

I like the design apart from 2 things:

1. What is up with the shape of the lower tier? They planning to play cricket on it as well?!
2. The moat. Is it really necessary?

I think the moat is to stop pitch invasions, its better than having huge fences up infront of the stands.

You definitely don't know how mad Brazilians can be about soccer.

Looks great, but the city of Brasilia is not a football city. It can become a huge white elephant after World Cup.

Not an excuse. Good teams come and go. And a good stadium could be an incentive for the locals teams, two of which had played in Brazilian's major soccer league.
