Here is a full detailed plan up to 2020 with the Shanghai map. The red and full blue colored lines are the existing. The blue dashed ones opens in 2012, the green 2020.

In fact blue dashed lines will open between 2012 and 2015. Line 22 should be dashed, and lines 17 and 20 are switched now. Same with 16 & 21.

Metro station's new name annoys some
Shanghai Daily
2012-9-19

A STATION yet to be opened on Metro Line 8 will be renamed after Zhonghua Art Palace, in line with the name-change of the China Pavilion at the adjacent World Expo Shanghai site.

The pavilion will reopened to the public on October 1 for the National Day Holiday, using the name of Zhonghua Art Palace.

The Metro station, which remained closed even years after Line 8 was put into service in 2007, is expected to start operation about the same time as the palace opens, according to the city's Metro operator.

It used to be named Zhoujiadu station.

However, some local residents said they preferred the previous name from a cultural perspective.

On Shanghai metrofans club, an online traffic forum, some commenters said Zhoujiadu represents many things to long-time residents. The online traffic forum solicits passengers' opinions.

The Chinese word du means dock or harbor, which in some locals' eyes stands for the home where they are born and raised.

One resident wrote to the mayor's mailbox in June, suggesting keeping the previous name. Local urban planning and land authorities responded that it is a better guide for the riders for the station to be named after a nearby landmark public building.

The name of Zhoujiadu will be preserved and protected in other ways, the government assured the locals.

Residents in the area often complain about the inconvenience of the limited access to the line because of the closed station.

The station soon to be opened is much closer to the pavilion than the current Line 8's Yaohua Road Station.

But It's a 350km/h trainset! Why wouldn't they use at least CRH1 or something similar?

Huh? 3250KPH? Is policy chasing urban sprawl there or is 22 to be a crosstown shuttle?

Chengdu-Dujiangyan is 57 km like Line 22 - 65 km to Qingchengshan. And it is suited to 220 km/h.

I got annoyed by the "Aerospace Museum Station"-name. I went all out there to look at some airplanes..

The museum isn't even build yet.

This is nice. I'm all for increased mobility in the city. Interesting that they will use the CRH2, will this eventually be changed over to the CRH6? Like Pansori posted, why not use the CRH1 if 160km/h is the top speed for the line?

I'd like to see a map for this new line.

I'm glad they're serving drinks on Line 22. It's a 20-minute ride end-to-end; way too long to wait without having some orange juice. They need to introduce this on some of the other lines as well, such as the one that connects SHA to PVG.

As a matter of fact, the opening of Line 22 will make Shanghai South just the third station in China to be served by more than 2 subway lines (the others are Beijing North and Shanghai stations). And Tianjin station will also join this club in October when Lines 3 and 9 are connected to Line 2.

Other famous stations to be served by more than 2 subway lines include:
1. Stockholm Central (red, green and blue)
2. Los Angeles Union (red, purple and gold)
3. New York Grand Central (4, 5, 6, 7, S)
4. New York Penn (1, 2, 3, A, C, E)
5. New York Atlantic Terminal (2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, R)
6. Moscow Kievskiy (3, 4, 5)
7. London King's Cross (Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern, Piccadilly, Victoria)
