Took the MRT in Singapore a few times, and I had the feeling it was huge when I stepped on it.

Is it because I have been taking the tiny KL monorail for the past 4 weeks, or is it actually bigger than Shanghai metro?

With the opening of Line 16 (Dec 28) Shanghai's max subway price will be raised to RMB 15, which is Line 11 transferring Line 16, end to end single ride distance 120 km, taking 2.5 hours.

Can you tell me if 24-hour and 72-hour tickets will be available for new lines?

Good to see all stations different from each other but pity that they no longer have a specific colour of the line. I mean lines at the PSD as well as benches and chairs - both on platforms and on the trains.

I suppose they are also going to raise fares for the tickets I mentioned above since 24-hour ticket is only 18 RMB and 72-hour one is 45 RMB.

Good question. Currently there's no plan to change the 24-hour and 72-hour ticket price. So if you take round trip of the 120 km route (RMB 30) in a day it's cheaper to buy 24-hour ticket (RMB 18).

Line 12 and Line 16 will open on Sunday December 29th 2013

The openings will make Shanghai metro's length 567 km (538 km + Maglev 29 km), total 331 stations.

Are there plans to construct city express service through the center, between Shanghai Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station? Present system maybe has capacity, but with stops every 1-1,5km it is to slow for such a huge city. I think that there is a need for few crosscity lines with stops every 3-7km, and average speed 70-80km/s (including stops, maximal 120-160km/h).

Are there plans to separate lines 3 and 4 between Bao Shan Rd and Yi Shan Rd?

I was told in this tread these are deeply modified Siemens trains like those running on line 4 and 11 but strongly different from them.

I hope to spend a couple of days in Shanghai before getting back to Russia, I think it'll be the 7th and the 8th of January and I hope to take a ride on both lines and to take pictures.

not much. By current status Shanghai may only has two sections to open in 2014,

Line 13 Jinshajiang rd to Nanjing west rd
