I found this picture on some search about Shanghai metro.
Does anybody know more about the metro behind the bogie?
Is this a Shanghai metro train? I searched for hours for more information but can't find anything about this metro.
Seems to me if this is just a mock-up?

Its an experimental Shanghai Metro test train #952. They put in all the bells and whistles in metro train construction.

And what about other lines, are they being prepared in terms of concept and elaboration?

What about Phase 2 of line 12 isn't that opening next year too? Shanghai should really break ground on new metro projects. How many have broken ground recently? Line 17? Line 8 South Extension?

Line 16 is getting a bit crowded

Line 16 was a bit crowded on opening day. Shanghai metro now moving forward to expand from 3 car A sets to 6 car A sets. Really shows the huge demand for intracity transport in China. Which makes things really interesting. I mean what metro project isn't a success in China.

Conventional wisdom is that metro makes sense in any city with urban population of 1 million or more and is vital in places with more than 3 million inhabitants. There are how many places like that in China? I'd guess about 25 in the second category alone. Plenty of building still to be done

Pardon me for being a bit slow on picking this up, but is it me or is it a bit odd leaving the South Station bit as a little stub?

Severing the direct link to important hubs like Zhongshan Park and the second direct link to the other mainline station would surely send more punters to Line 1 which is already overloaded??

I can't believe someone could approve a plan for a 3 car trainset for an MRT system of a city over 20 million inhabitants.

The line is built to handle 6-car sets obviously. I guess for various reasons, rolling stock availability in particular, it makes sense to start off with 3-car operation.

Is Line 14 built partly to relieve line 2?

3 cars? Just 3? How low capacity are these lines?
Stockholm has 100 stations for a metropolitan area of just 2.1M, and we've got 6 car trains only during the low-use hours. How many trains per hour and how long trains do Chinese metros run at?

It might have something to do with 16 being in eastern Pudong.
It also doesn't service the inner city, but connects to 11, 2, and 7, all of which do.
