Shanghai metro breaks daily ridership record, 9.018 million

This is the first time Shanghai metro reaches 9 million daily ridership. Line 7/10/11/12 all broke their single line records.

What other modes of public transport are there in Shanghai besides metro? Buses I assume, but is there also light rail, commuter trains, trams etc.?

Tram line in Pudong and some trolleybuses in Puxi.

There isn't any tram line yet, actually, but there is a translohr line in Zhanjiang, Pudong, in the district of Technoparcs.

There are some trolleybus lines in Puxi but their number is decreasing. Some lines have been shifted to be served by super capacitor buses.

On some lines trolleybuses have been replaced by electric buses.

Finally, you forgot the famous MagLev.

As for Light Rail, there isn't any. I can't get so far why metro lines 5 and 6 are often called Light Rail lines: they are very normal, "heavy" metro lines indeed.

I think there's one planned for Songjiang and likely for more of the outer-districts.

In China, elevated metro is generally called Light Rail.

No idea why, but it creates very confusing situations.

As for line 6, I took it 2 yeara ago from Oriental Sports Center to Centure Avenue and all 12 stations (which is nearly half of the line) were underground.

Then, line 9, for instance, in its western part, runs elevated but no one call is light rail. Same to line 1 and its south-western part.

The point is that even short trains on lines 5 and 6 are generally of a higher capacity than, say, almost all train of "traditional" Paris metro.

You're right but I was talking about what there actually is.

I made a new schematic map of Shanghai subway network.

All lines are represented, stations are labelled in Chinese and English, line 4 is a rectangle. I tried to make it as symmetrical and harmonious as possible but still small enough to be printed on 20cmx20cm

You can see it in better resolution on:

At first glance you forgot Qilianshannanlu on line 13, it is between Zhenbeilu and Fengzhuang. And Hangtianbowuguan (Aerospace Museum) is now named Shendugonglu. Also, how will you extend line 16 when the missing section to Longyanglu opens?

@CNGL

Thank you for your review.

Qilianshannanlu on line 13 added.

Line 16 will extend to the north to cross the future extension of line 13 then go East to Longyanglu. Anyway every time an extension is created the map needs to be adjusted in that area even though blank space placeholders have been left and future transfer stations aligned.

@Highcliff

There are 2 services on line 3, one runs the whole length of the line, the other one doesn't go past South Changjiang Road.

South Changjiang Road is labelled as terminus to reflect that.

For line 4 I suppose you mean highlighting Yishan Road as terminus.

Shanghai Metro increasing off peak train frequencies on some sections of lines. The major changes are on Lines 1 and 6.
Line 1 Shanghai Railway Station - Fujinlu 8 min -> 4 min
Line 6 Gaoqinglu - Oriental Sports Center 12 min -> 9 min

Seems like everyone would rather nitpick than congratulate you on your awesome map making skills, so I will. Great job!

I just posted a video to Youtube. Its not exactly a subway, but it is transportation under the Huangpu River.
