Back in the '70s, I read excerpts here and there that the maximum velocity of the then experimental trains was about 450 MPH (725 KPH).

Well I don't know about that but as I said "Fastest Operational Train"

Infact the Japanese Maglev they're developing is a bit faster than the Germans.

Seems like many of the stations are almost finished, but it's pretty much impossible for me to judge if it's going to open soon or not though. I hope it'll be soon though as I live right on top of that line.

As far as I know, the Maglev (from the airport) will not be extended to this station, but I think the new Maglev line from Shanghai to Hangzhou (finished by 2010) will go from the South Railway Station.
