Shangri-La’s $250-M hotel to rise at Fort Boni
By Honey Madrilejos-Reyes
BusinessMirror
July 4, 2008

SHANGRI-LA Hotel Asia Ltd. said its new project will rise at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City at a cost of $250 million.

The hotel, Shangri-La said, will be completed in 2012.

In the foundation laying ceremony held Thursday at the project’s site, Shangri-La Asia Ltd. said the hotel will be more than 60-story high with 500 guestrooms and 234 apartments.

Eduard Kuok, president and chief executive officer of Shangri-La Asia, said the construction of the Shangri-La at the Fort is a “demonstration of our firm commitment to the Philippines.”

“Our presence and confidence in this market continue to grow with an expanding portfolio of business and leisure properties,” he said.

The size of the hotel’s guestrooms will range from 52 square meters (sq.m.) for a standard room to 260 sq.m. for a “Horizon Club” room, Shangri-La’s exclusive retreat for travelers.

The new hotel will also feature over 4,600 sq.m. of meeting and banqueting facilities, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 11 function rooms, a boardroom, business center, individual teleconferencing room and a 350-sq.m. high-end outdoor-event area.

if it's true that they're going to increase the number of floors to 66, this would only be around 225 meters.

Shangri-La at the Fort to open in Manila 2012
Tuesday, 8 July 2008

http://www.etravelblackboardasia.com...id=54197&nav=1

The Philippines has been highlighted as a potential growth market, as Shangri-La Asia Ltd plans to augment their existing portfolio with the upcoming Shangri-La at the Fort, to open in Manila in 2012.

The property is located within the former military base of Fort Bonifacio, and will consist of 500 guestrooms and 234 apartments, spread over 60 storeys.

The company already possesses four properties within the Philippines, which will shortly be multiplied with the opening of the Shangri-La Resort and Spa, Boracay, which is scheduled for opening at the end of the year.

The tower in Manila is intended to be used for mixed purposes, possessing business, residential and retail elements.

Shangri-La at the Fort is situated upon Fifth Avenue and 30th, in Taguig, the business district of Manila. The hotel is only 30 minutes away from the international airport, and also boasts the Manila Golf and Polo club in its vicinity.

Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP have been selected as the architects for the project, with Hirsch Bedner Associates employed as the interior designers.

Cuisine options vary between an all-day café, a deli café, speciality restaurants including Chinese, a lobby lounge, poolside bar and BBQ, and an entertainment and bar area.

Other features of the Shangri-La at the Fort include a health club, tennis courts and swimming pools.

Meetings and events are evidently a focus of the new Shangri-La, as a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 11 function rooms, boardroom, business centre, individual teleconferencing room and an outdoor event area have been planned for the hotel.

“Shangri-La at the Fort will not only be a striking new addition to the Manila skyline, but a demonstration of our firm commitment to the Philippines,” said Edward Kuok, president and chief executive officer of Shangri-La Asia Limited.

“Our presence and confidence in this market continues to grow, with an expanding portfolio of business and leisure properties.”

i dont think there is because this is a residential and hotel tower which means lower flr-to-flr height.
