Thanks for confirming that if they are shows why I haven't seen artics with the newer body style before. Have always thought the Scania's and the MAN Lion City bodies have looked out of place in Paris.

Is it true that taking pictures of trams (and therefore other means of transport) is officially prohibited?
Once when I tried to take some pix of T2 at Porte de Versaille, one of the drivers or RATP inspectors, gently told me not to.
Does anybody know anything about this? Are there any legal consequences of doing that?

For the large city that Paris is, I'd be shocked if one has to have a permit to take photos of transit. This is the case in New Jersey and its outrageous. People abuse the system all the time though.

I'd say it's prohibited, indeed. But in many europeans countries noone cares about the law enforcement in cases like that...

Were you on RATP premisis, ie a stop or in a public space? I would imagine it would make a huge difference.

I know that in Paris they don't like people photographing the metro as they believe it could be terrorists preparing a bombing or something.

But anyway, the area is used by millions of travellers daily. It's rather hard to prevent pictures to be taken... especially nowadays with any single cellphone having a camera incorporated in.

Same thing goes in New Jersey on their subway, the PATH. And the police will BARK at you if you don't have a photo permit, its ridiculous!

I don't think so, I quite like the MAN.

I like the look of the MAN Lion City too, just don't think it looks very Paris like.

Livery aside I would expect to see that body somewhere deep in Germany not central Paris. The Renaults/Irisbuses on the other hand look at home in Paris, as well as my home town in Canberra Australia might I add where we still have heaps of PR100.2 and PR100.3 (based on R312).

Like the look, but still way too German for a Paris bus!. French designed bus bodies have a bit of class and style about them. German buses are more functional and industrial looking.

Even more out of place are the Scania's!

I quite like the sight of MANs, Mercs and Scanias on French roads, rather refreshing in the sea of Agoras.

You can however see the French influence in the body styling, even if Iris is more or less Italian owned these days.

Outer suburbs are always interesting as they have sereval buses operators serving the areas unlike in inner Paris and inner suburbs where we almost only see the RATP.

Mercedes Citaro of Apolo7 network (bus network serving Chelles and surrounding)

RATP's Irisbus Citelis followed by a Apolo 7's Mercedes Citaro.

I was quite in hurry so I didn't have the time to take more pictures.
