Chinese used to bind women's feet! Do they do it today? Why did they stop it? If you want to convey how primitive you are to world then go ahead and say it with pride but don't drag other Vietnamese into your disgusting practices! Anyway, dog eating practice came from China! I wish Vietnamese would stop aping everything from China. Do you believe the world is flat? In fact it is round. Superstitious things and practices should cease when a person's mind becomes more evolve! |

White people only treat dog as "pet"? What about Hindus who treat cow like a "God", Muslim people think pig is the dirty that's why they don't eat them; how primitive we Vietnamese are for eating cow and pig ....

Dog meat is a cultural thing!! I love eating it too.
Cultural thing cannot be gotten rid of. It's like "nhai trau". |

Stop saying "we" as in all Vietnamese eat little doggies! Some Vietnamese do while there are some Vietnamese that think it is grotesque. It is a habit some Vietnamese learned from the Chinamen!

I would not careless about whatever people eat. The clearest complaint: the needlessly cruel methods—beating, strangling, burning or hanging—by which many dogs are killed. These methods have to be stopped. The difference about killing dogs and other farm animals are the method of killing them.
At least cows and pigs put to death with electrocution, which is far more humane. Have you ever heard the sound of a dog howling all night while being beaten to death in Hanoi? Killing the dogs slowly by beating until sweating would eliminate the odor in dog meat. Dog meat eaters believe to improve strength, virility and raise the libido. There is no scientific evidence that dog meat has restorative or curative powers; these health claims are folklore not fact. Dog dealers and restaurants began to fabricate health benefits derived from eating dog meat. In reality, the trade in dog meat has more to do with greed and profits rather than any sort of tradition; dog meats are very expensive in Hanoi. Lastly, I think the only way to solve this is to continue to bring light to the subject |

LOL, i still disagree with banning dog meat!
You guys probably don't know, dog meat exists even in folk-lore. Yes, there are current issues with dog meat selling on the street of Hanoi. Yet if we alleviate the situation by making it more like any other domestic animal with their own dog farm and dog slaughter house, it'll be much better. |

Scientists have decoded the complete genome of the domestic dog, a milestone announced that provides a biological roadmap for unraveling human diseases and probing the mysterious bond between man and his best friend. Dozens of researchers worked for two years deciphering and analyzing the 19,300 genes belonging to a 12-year-old boxer named Tasha. What they found was an exceptional correlation between the DNA of Canis familiaris and Homo sapiens, according to a study published in the journal Nature. "Humans and dogs have essentially the same genes," said lead author Kerstin Lindblad-Toh, co-director of the genome sequencing and analysis program at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University. "Every gene has a gene with the same function in the other genome. "That closeness is reflected in the numerous diseases shared by dogs and humans, including cancer, heart disease, blindness, epilepsy and diabetes. Of the 10 most common diseases in dogs, eight are important to humans. Dogs have already proved useful as proxies for humans in medical research. The gene that causes the sleeping disorder narcolepsy was first identified in Doberman pinschers and Labrador retrievers, and genetic defects associated with epilepsy came to light in studies of pointers that had the disease. Beyond the search for diseases, the dog's genetic code contains glimpses into the unique relationship between humans and dogs. |

the thing is now they are catching dogs with poisons,
that's why when you eat these dogs you don't know what poison will kill you afterward. and dogs eat shit tơo so when you eat dogs, basically you eat that tơo

I remember once...my first dog eating experience...I went to a Vietnamese bar and grill...My cousins gave me a heart and told me a boar heart. And of course, eating the heart to me is like eating it's soul, which just makes me feel more fulfilled. So thinking it is a good boar heart, I ate a dog's heart. Only to find out a month later that it was dog. Inside my mind, I thought it was good actually. Very strong, chewy, and did it's part by making me feel more fulfilled. In my life, I ate many varieties of things. From snake to frog, to turtle, to dog, I find little difference of morals in what I eat. Eating a dog to me is no different from a cow. If God gives fortune, I eat it. So why is there so much talk about it being inhumane?
