Stunning !

We looked at mountains until dawn, and then when dawn came, it was too pretty for me - there was pink and blue and gold, in the sky, and on icy places, brilliant pink and gold flashes, and the snow was colored too, and I said," Oh," and sighed; and each moment was more beautiful than the one before; and I said, " I love you, Momma." Then I fell asleep in her arms.
That was happiness then.

Low-based oblique photos have their way with perception of distance. On this pic, the Stade de France looks like it's steps from Montmartre Basilica. Yet, from the basilica to the nearest edge of the stadium there are 2.62 straight miles (4.22 km).

And from the basilica to the edge of the urban built-up (around Villiers-le-Bel) where the open fields begin that you see on the pic's background there are 9 straight miles (14.45 km), with the axis still passing through the stadium...this is all measured on Google Earth, btw.

From the Montparnasse Tower where the pic is taken, the distance to the edge of the urban-built is around 12.23 straight miles (19.70 km). This is with the measuring axis still passing through the basilica and the stadium.

Amazing distortion of distance!!!

I think Montparnasse offers as good a view as the Eiffel Tower!

If you haven't already listed that West Paris photo on the UPC, you should!
