Wembley isn't even finished yet.

So I don't know how anyboddy can say it's the best.

Wrigley field just looks mad....in a great way.

I can't pic a fave.

Soldier Field I like alot.

It is certainly one of the best stadiums in the world, but I wouldn't call it THE best, maybe when they build a new South stand, it will be the best...but anyway, I would rank it very highly, just behind Wembley.

The Union Jack and Rangers. Disgusting. They represent everything that's wrong with the world.

Hey, have a pop at Rangers all you like, but leave our flag alone! It most certainly does not represent all that's wrong with the world.

I think you may be alluding to its popularity with right-wing groups but if you are, bear this in mind. They are stealing its image and symbolism from our whole country. They do not have the right to claim it as their own and the rest of the UK should not let them. It's only when people begin to make the association that they succeed. I for one will not stand idly by and allow the perceptions you seem to have to remain unchallenged. The UJ stands for 400 years of history, not all of it good, I admit but certainly not all of it bad either! It was hardly the scourge of the earth when it was holding Hitler back, was it?

As for Rangers fans and their relationship with the Union, I once read a very good summation of the Old Firm in 'The Fiver', the Guardian online's weekly football column: Celtic fans = Scotsmen who think they're Irish. Rangers fans = Scotsmen who think they're English.

Yes, I'm sure this is a grossly simplistic view but it certainly crystalises the basic aspects of the more hardcore elements of the Glasgow clubs.

Where are you Socrates/Bubomb? I'm sure you'll want to come back on this...

In the words of the great Billy Bragg:

Take down the Union Jack, it clashes with the sunset
And put it in the attic with the emperors old clothes
When did it fall apart? Sometime in the 80s
When the Great and the Good gave way to the greedy and the mean
Britain isnít cool you know, its really not that great
It's not a proper country, it doesnít even have a patron saint
It's just an economic union thatís passed its sell-by date

Take down the Union Jack, it clashes with the sunset
And ask our Scottish neighbours if independence looks any good
ĎCos they just might understand how to take an abstract notion
Of personal identity and turn it into nationhood
Is this the 19th century that Iím watching on tv?
The dear old Queen of England handing out those MBEs
Member of the British Empire - that doesnít sound too good to me

Gilbert and George are taking the piss arenít they?
Gilbert and George are taking the piss.
What could be more British than hereís a picture of my bum?
Gilbert and George are taking the piss

Take down the Union Jack, it clashes with the sunset
And pile all those history books, but donít throw them away
They just might have some clues about what it really means
To be an Anglo hyphen Saxon in England.co.uk

Billy Bragg is an English Nationalist as well as being progressive on other issues and has regularly shown a great deal of support for the English Devolutionist Cause.

**** the Union.

If Britain's not that Great, then I really fail to see why the adjective is any more fitting if its used to describe Billy Bragg.

Hand-wringing tosser!

He considers himself English and European rather than British. Nothing wrong with that.

Correct. By a country mile as well.

Aesthetically Old Trafford is amongst the worst of the large stadia in Europe. It might have personal appeal to you, but this is hardly what the thread is about.

The Union Jack represents empires and world domination. We don't need to go into British history do we?

Rangers represent bigotry and pride in a government that has repressed different peoples for centuries.

And the Union Jack doesn't represent my country, EADGBE.

That's the last I have to say about that on here. Let's get back on topic.

For the record I have no problem with the English (well I would if Cromwell and the lot were still in power), Scottish, Welsh, Manx, or Cornish. Just keep to yourselfs and let the others live in harmony.

Ok, done.

Well said (apart for the Welsh who are all tossers).
