I don't Think you can just write off exterior aesthetics. Sure the atmospere in the stands is the most important apsect, but twickenham appears to have hiddeous utilitarian facad, kind of like Borussia Park with a very ugly frame structure exposed to the outside. That has to drop property values around it, not to mention being an eyesore to any one who lives nearby. now with the new international stadium in Dubai thats an exposedsupport structure that is very attractive (though the atmosphere probablywon't be anything to write home about).

My favourite stadium I have been to would have to be Ohio Stadium, you'll have a hard time matching a crowd of 105,000 crazed (and mostly drunk) Buckeye fans in the Horseshoe. And the Horseshoe portion (especially the little temple area under the end) is beautifull.
My favourite Football (soccer) stadium that have had the privelage (I have been to a few German and MLS stadiums) to go to is probably the Bay Arena at Leverkuesen, maybe not the wild as Signal Iduna or the AOL Arena, but there isn't a bad seat in the house and the atmopsere is absolutely fantastic.

Everyone seems to knock it but i love it. St. Mary's is a quality stadium.

Here are a few of my favorite pics of it.

Win, lose or draw I can't imagine any stadium in the world having the size, comfort for 100,000 fans and shear awe of the M.C.G. in Melbourne. It's held the Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games, Test Cricket, Australian Rules Football..and Final, Rugby and soccer...but understand because of it's huge oval ground size it's not ideal for rectangular ground sports....it's just awesome!!!!! The Roman Coloseum of the 21st. Century.

But the best stadium in the world, the iconic world cup final stadium is the Azteca Stadium, Mexico City.

As far as I know it was established by Irish imigrants and every game brings masses from the Green Island to the stadium Plus, a lot of these guys live in Scotland today. Celtic is the catholic and the "seperatistic" (as for Scottish independence) club in Glasgow and from what I've heard they feel very much alike with the Irish. Had a mate from Dublin who was Bhoys fanatic some time ago...
Not sure, but wasn't the "Fields of Athenry" originally from Ireland? And I guess Celts sing it as well.

It always amazed me how steep the stands at the Bernabeu look. The top tier seems almost vertical but makes for an intimidating stadium.

Mine has to be Dartford FC's new stadium Princes Park only holds 4000 it has a green roof, solar panels and is made from timber. It is considered to be one the world’s first sustainable football grounds.

Grand Stand

Grandstand Entrance

East Stand

Dartford Football Club plays in Ryman Football League in England just in case you wanted to know.

Of the big stadiums it would have to be Allianz Arena in Germany just so unique

Off the field, Princes Park was taking shape and an opening date of 23 September was announced for the first game.. Towards the end of April it became apparent that this date would not be met and on Monday 21 August 2006 it was announced that the opening date would be Saturday 11 November 2006 when the Darts entertain Horsham YMCA in the Ryman League.

The day duly arrived and in front of a capacity crowd of 4,100(all tickets sold in 3 weeks), we won 4-2 with Brendan Cass having the honour of scoring the first goal after 10 minutes.
4,100 by all accounts. I must say, I like it.
