Continuing my list to be more just going to put another 10 stages that I love and would not be fair not to quote them.
20- Estadio Alvalade / Estadio da Luz - Lisbon - Portugal For me the two are exactly the same level, it would be unfair to let any of them off the list, I decided to put both. ![]() ![]() ![]() 19- Estadio do Dragao - Porto - Portugal ![]() ![]() 18- Yankee Stadium ![]() ![]() 17- Amsterdam Arena - Amsterdam - Netherlands ![]() ![]() 16- Turk Telekom Arena - Istanbul - Turkey ![]() ![]() 15- AAMI park - Melbourne - Australia ![]() ![]() 14- Omnilife Stadium - Guadalajara - Mexico ![]() ![]() 13- University of Phoenix Stadium ![]() ![]() 12- Moses Mabhida Stadium ![]() ![]() 11- Lucas Oil Stadium ![]()

These are my personal favorites:
1st. place, the Tivoli in Aachen, Germany (my own clubs new stadium opened in August 2009): ![]() ![]() ![]() (pictures from www.alemannia-aachen.de) Great architecture, prime location within the city, stands as close to the pitch as possible and many prime quality solutions in the various details. I personally just can't think of any better brand new 30k stadium than this one in the entire world. 2nd. place, Estadio Omnilife Guadalajara, Mexico: image hosted on flickr ![]() (source:http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=551) The soccer volcano, one of the best and most beautiful stadium designs of all times. Can it really get any cooler than this? 3rd place, Donbass Arena, Donetsk, Ukraine: ![]() (source:http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...postcount=1397) Despite a few very minor things I dislike, a truely great and extremely fancy stadium architecture. A real sports palace. Can it really get any fancier than this? 4th place: Stadion Mijeski, Wroclaw, Poland: ![]() (source:http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...ostcount=21044) Still under construction and clearly not a stadium with the nicest possible exterior and it even also has a few obstructed views, due to the pillars in the very rear. But where else can you find a steeper and more intimate brand new, large single tier bowl stadium in the world? My 5th place would be decided just by judging from my personal taste. So I pick the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland: (source:www.uefa.com) I just love it. Crazy, very unique design, right in the city, fit onto a traditional, but in terms of available space, very limited location with no compromises made. And all in all a truely Irish stadium. Everything about it just shout's "Ireland" Only the lower tier should be a bit steeper, for my personal taste, otherwise it's perfect. But because there is now also of course this gigantic "monster" in Arlington left, which has several things about it that I don't like much, especially this awfull center hung scoreboard. The Dallas Cowboys Stadium is the biggest and it's a multi purpose stadium and has a great roof and giant glass Doors and holds several records. So I'll list it as place "5 1/2" , simply because it is a truely amazing stadium which in one way or another just needs to show up in any list of the best stadia, even though in some few ways I can't say like it all that much. ![]() (source:http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...postcount=2209) It's a bit of an ambivalent Love and hate kinda thing or me, but well - size does matter. And after all: "Can it really get any bigger and more impressive than this?"

1. Qwest Field- great unique shape and my 2nd fav. mls fans behind portland
![]() 2. M&T bank stadium- basic design done so well and the mid level scoreboards and raven walk make it very unique! ![]() 3. Safeco Field- the best retractable roof stadium in baseball if they only had the roof behind third it would be even better ![]() 4. Target Field- The stone work and angled cuts make it a fun new design! ![]() 5. Lucas Oil Stadium- When the roof is open and the window is open its bright stadium with a lot of character! ![]() Honorable mention: PNC has the best view in baseball, miller park has a really cool design, and camden yards is the original and best retro park. |

All for sure to be built or in progress/built
New Zenit Arena, St Petersburg, Kisho Kurokawa, 2012ish ![]() Way too much fun, even with the design being brought back down to the real world some. I know proximity to the pitch could probably be better, and its far from the most typical way of doing things but Kurokawa is always fun. Very inventive and flying saucer-ish in the best way. Le Grand Stade Bordeaux, Herzog de Meuron, 2015 ![]() ![]() Wonderfully elegant exterior, very sensible if a little sterile seating bowl (like most of Herzog de Meuron's sports projects) but very solid sightlines, great spacial layering and a pure elegance to it. Jaber al-Ahmad International stadium, Kuwait City, 2007 I know not quite brand new, but still new and absolutely beautiful. I love the bold cantilevering of the structural beams and great finish on the concrete, smooth, elegant bowl and a roof the fits in much better than it should. The Ring stadium, Maribor Slovenia, OFIS Arhitecti, 2008 Wonderful addition that blends nicely with the existing stand, provides a great view and sits beautifully on its site. Very sharp little stadium. Omnilife Stadium, Guadalajara, VFO Architects, 2010 Great exterior, fantastic concourse, sleek roof and excellent sightlines, other than perhaps proximity to the urban core not too many faults I can find with it. Target Field, Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, the new Worclaw stadium, TCF Stadium, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and the Ion-Moina arena in Cluj are all pretty fantastic as well. If the new Stadium project in Casablanca turns out as well as the renderings so far I might have a new favorite stadium, but I have yet to see anything finalized with that one. Mon classement :
1 - Le Parc des Princes ![]() The One and the only football Stadium in Paris. A unique architecture. A roof that gives it an amazing sound. A historic stadium that has experienced the greatest hour of French football, rugby and of course the PSG. 2 - Old Wembley ![]() The new Wembley may be modern and cool ... But the only Wembley struck me is the old stadium not comfortable with a running track and its twin towers. What memories I had on that Wembley Way. It was my first football match in England. It was not one of these stages close to the ground like those of Archibald Leitch (a great genius, by the way) but it was worth a look. 3 - Berlin Olympic Stadium ![]() This stadium was the venue of the first provocation against Nazis and Hitler. During the 1936 Olympics, a big propaganda was made by the Third Reich to show the world the superiority of the Aryan race. And Jesse Owens won the long jump event ... Congratulations to Luz Long, the Aryan, for being fair play to the man with the mustache and one testicle squeezing the hand of the winner. I do not know what happened to him after the Olympics ... A superb architecture, which certainly did not deserve the history he knew. Because of its creators, the Nazis. From what he could represent spite of himself. The silly controversy over the installation of brothels nearby. And especially the Italian victory at the 2006 World Cup. Buffers Cannavaro, Materazzi and Grosso and the first arbitration decision by the video (Zidane Headbutt). No, this stadium does not deserve its history. 4 - San Siro-Stadio Giuseppe Meazza ![]() I do not know if I chose it because it was unique in his son, if it's because I have a soft spot for AC Milan, if it's because I loved the city of Milan or is it simply because it's the most beautiful stadium in Italy. That's okay. This is the fourth of my ranking. 5 - The Stadium intro of the Champions League in the 90's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrger...eature=related Do not make fun of me saying it's the Colosseum. But if anyone knows if this stadium is really, let me know. 6 - Stade de France ![]() This will be surprise you but know that the French do not like their National Stadium. First, because it is located in an ugly industrial area north of Paris. Secondly, because the stands are quite far from the field and the acoustics are poor, like the visibility. It has flaws that were the qualities of the Parc des Princes. But it is mainly because it is associated with a class of football fans supporting their team for the World Cup and 98 with no great knowledge of football. This category is called "Footix" the name of the terrifying mascot World Cup, which in reality was Woody Woodpecker, who had then taken a lot of weight. What I remember of this beautiful stadium, it was his aura that gives it a mystical and Zidane headbutts the two which were placed in the right place this time there. And then we sang ... "ET UN... ET DEUX... ET TROIS-Zé-ROS !!!!" 7 - Rogers Centre (former SkyDome) ![]() In my ranking, I had not mentioned a modern stadium (apart from the Stade de France). This one impressed me at first because it is a technical feat. It is a little unsightly and has a beautiful setting in downtown Toronto between the sea and the CN Tower. 8 - Yankee Stadium ![]() This one is for the Yankee cap in my youth, for his very successful classical facade and its location in the Bronx. That said, I hate baseball. 9 - Signal Iduna Park (Westfalenstadion) ![]() This is the last "old stadium" so to speak. A square Stadium. The platform of the kop not redundant ring and places are still standing. Fortunately, this kind of Stadium still exists. That's how the stages that make me love football. 10 - Camp Nou ![]() The picture I took shows how the stadium is impressive. This is certainly the most beautiful monument of Barcelona.

It depends.
Miami, San Francisco, Washington DC or the old Giant Stadium in NY are ugly. The baseball stadiums are beautiful because they are old, with an old architecture. And stadiums like Cowboys Stadium or University of Phoenix Stadium are beautiful
