Was it excavated or did they find it exactly the way it is?

Until 1850, Skara Brae lay under years of soil sediment when in the winter of that year a large storm stripped the grass from the large mound known as Skerrabra.

The outline of several of stone buildings was revealed and initial excavations were undertaken by William Watt, the laird of Skaill. It was fully excavated between 1928 and 1930 by Vere Gordon Childe following another storm in 1926.

Coimbra, Portugal!

2000+ old city in central Portugal, of pre-roman origins, it was Aeminium under Roman domain, near Conimbrigae. After the fall of Conimbrigae to the Sueves, the powers came to Aeminium. It was then Moorish from the 8th until 1095, when it was finally conquered. It was the first capital of Portugal, here lived St. Anthony of Lisbon (yes, the one who died in Padova) and Queen St. Isabel, who is the saint of the city. It has the oldest university in Portugal and one of the oldest of Europe.
168.000 inhabittants in the city and with blooming technology companies, such as Critical Software (who do software for NASA) or YDreams. We have one of the best hospitals in Portugal and recovery of the Historic Centre is under way for UNESCO Heritage site. Welcome to Coimbra!

PS: great photo of Dresden, it looks like a oil painting or even a drawing.
