Greek Telecom's Observation Tower: Thessaloniki's contemporary symbol Northern Greece (Macedonia Region)

and the well known symbol of Thessaloniki White Tower: was buit by the Turks and used to be a prison..now it's a museum for the history of the city

My favorite places in the Alps:

Timmelsjoch/Passo Rombo, Alpine pass between Tirol (AT) and Südtirol/Alto Adige (IT). Hard to find a a more majestic place, really.

Call me pathetic, but whnever I'm there I feel a tad more patriotic: Großglockner (Veliki Klek), Austria's highest peak (3,798 m)

The valley of the Soča (Isonzo/Lusinç) in Slovenia. Yes, the water is that green.

Umbrail pass, Switzerland (Graubünden), close to the border to Italy. The area is actually trilingual. (Romantsch, Italian and German speaking areas meet here)

The valley of the Tagliamento, which some consider the "king of Alpine rivers". Might be true. Reminds me of New Zealand.

In my view, there are many European landscapes and landmarks that are absolutely underrated or misunderstood. They might not be totally unknown, but would deserve more attention. Some examples:

Sveti Jure (Croatia):
