Those are definitely not the best areas... Atlanta and New Orleans look scary!

Very interesting images. Not all of them are the nicest areas, I´m sure, but all of them are interesting to see.

I like threads like this. It's better than just showing us the postcard photos of each city. Thanks for sharing.

Is there more?

I do not consider Dallas to be the South neither do I consider Miami to be "classic" South.
Might as well throw in Baltimore and DC.

Miami, Atlanta and New Orleans are the most urban of the bunch.
Savannah and Charleston are tiny.

Greenville, New Orleans, and Charleston look AMAZING close-up. Definitely what you think of as "the south" when you think of a southern city's downtown.

I'm sorry but Houston just does not measure up to the rest of the cities on here when looking up-close.

"Houston just does not measure up to the rest of the cities on here when looking up-close"

Houston is not a real "city" it is suburban sprawling mess. There is no master plan.

I got to disagree with some of the posters here, Houston has got one of the most impressive skylines in the world and that's what counts.

Interesting pics, this one is my favorite:

Houston does have an amazing skyline. It's wide, it's tall, it's dense. It can be seen from suburbs far, far away from downtown and that is cool. But up-close and on the street, Houston's DT just does not measure up to some of the other cities. Tampa, FL is the same way...great skyline, disappointing up-close.

Burislav, that pic of houston is great. Houston has great buildings, I just think it's DT lacks some of the urban activity that it needs to really look great from the street...but I would LOVE for someone someday to start a thread that proves me wrong.
