Allianz Park update:

Quote:
Work continues to lay the artificial turf pitch at Allianz Park.

Saracens will become the first professional rugby union club in the world to play on entirely artificial turf, promoting a faster, safer and more entertaining game, and the four metre-wide strips continue to be laid.

Allianz Park will be officially opened on Saturday 16th February, 2013, when Saracens play a Premiership match against Exeter Chiefs.

I'm sorry but Saracens new stadium is very underwhelming for £20M with it's one small stand and lots of temporary seats/stands that look like glorified marquees.
When you think Rotherham Utd built the New York stadium for the same money, the comparison is damning.
Mind you, they did well with the Sponsorship deal. When you think of Allianz's other stadiums (Munich, Nice and Sydney), this really is the nephew you hide in the cellar!

Darlington Mowden Park buys town's 27,500 seater stadium

DARLINGTON Mowden Park have pulled off their audacious purchase of the town’s former football stadium and expect to play some rugby there before the end of this season.

“Everything has now been signed and we hope to get the stadium back in use by early February,” said chairman John Widdall.

“The pitch has been maintained, so we just need to put up some new posts. The players can’t wait to get on to it.”

As the club has also bought 17 acres of adjacent land from the council they intend to develop a multi-sports facility, which would include a racket sports centre.

They have already held talks with Middlesbrough FC, who are interested in staging Under 21 matches at the ground, and a local gymnastics club have also expressed an interest.

“We have an option on buying a further 25 acres, but we will wait to see how many of the other sports become a reality,” said the club’s facilities development manager Dave Liddle.

“We are talking to the Rugby Football Union about staging England Saxons matches and we will also ask them about the possibility of having women’s internationals.”

It is. Basically, it'll end up like the Riverside Stadium when it first opened:

Someone on the Stoke City forum did this:

Hopefully an expansion like that will happen one day, but for now they're just filling in that one corner.

Featherstone have reported good progress on the stadium re-developments taking place at the Bigfellas Stadium.

The club transported two seated stands from the old McCain Stadium, home of Scarborough FC last autumn, and they are currently being prepared to be erected at the Railway end of the ground.

Don't think there's a stadium development thread for Wales, so this one can go in here.

Quote:
Swansea City aim to extend Liberty Stadium by 12,000 seats

PLANS to expand the Liberty Stadium by as much as 12,000 seats are set to be lodged early next year.

Swansea City's chairman Huw Jenkins has given more details about how he wants the stadium to
grow.

Mr Jenkins said he hoped to be ready to submit a planning application to Swansea Council early next year to add 11,000 to 12,000 seats to the south, east and north stands.

The club will finance the expansion — and Mr Jenkins stressed that retaining Premier League status was "vitally important".

The stadium's current capacity is around 20,500, but the high-flying club is missing out on match-day revenue due to the demand to see them live.

"We can do the east (stand) first probably if we want to, then decide on doing one of the other two or both at the same time," said Mr Jenkins.

"But as we all know in football we don't know what's round the corner, so we have got be careful and make sure we do everything within what we can afford.

"It's going to cost, and retaining Premier League status is vitally important. But there's additional money coming in via the TV revenues next season and we have got to make sure we use that wisely, that we do things that are right for the club for years to come.

"I don't know exactly when it would be ready, but I would say a build on the east stand would be started and finished within 12 months, maybe quicker than that."

Mr Jenkins, whose astute managerial appointments and prudent fiscal approach have won him many plaudits, said a lot of work was going on behind the scenes.

"We hope to be ready to put a planning application in by February or March," he said. "The (supporters) trust are helping us to do a survey shortly to see where we are at with the level of interest in additional season tickets.

"We want to get all that in hand, to give us the confidence and to judge where we need to be, because we will be expanding in different phases.

"We are looking to get some feedback. For instance, a lot of the feedback I hear is that a lot of the ground has been more or less sold out for five or six years.

"Naturally families grow and change during that time and people can't get additional seats around them for their own families, so a lot of thought is going to go into how we can adapt certain areas and work our expansion with that.

"The planning application will be for the south, north and east stands to be increased. It will continue the same shape that is already there. That will probably bring in roughly 11,000 or 12,000 seats. It's exciting, but we have got to make sure we do it right. If it needs to be done in stages, we will do it in stages."

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats stadium given final approval

PLANS for a new community stadium and business park have been given the final go-ahead.

Secretary of state for communities and local government Eric Pickles has awarded planning permission for a £19m stadium and 100-acre business park on Newmarket Lane, near Stanley.

It will provide a new home for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats by the start of 2015, helping the club to maintain its Super League status.

In June Mr Pickles said he was “minded” to approve Yorkcourt Properties’ plans, but only if certain planning conditions were met.

Those have now been met.

The plans were called in by the government as it was on allocated Green Belt land.

The site will also include warehouses, a multi-use games area, restaurant and 120-bed hotel and is expected to create 2,000 jobs and bring in an extra £130m to the city’s economy.

His decision may be challenged at the High Court within six weeks.

No, they're actually the ones submitted in the planning application by the architects. No point in spending money on fancy renders when it's such a basic expansion.

But they are a big team? I could create those pictures if you give me an hour, they are SO simple. They dont even have proper seats, just textured faces.

Cheddar Football Club

Quote:
The plan calls for:

A full-size and floodlit artificial grass pitch;

A full-size and floodlit synthetic turf pitch for hockey;

An adult grass football pitch for senior, U18 and U17 matches;

An intermediate grass football pitch for U13 to U16 matches;

An intermediate grass football pitch for U11 and U12;

A junior football pitch for junior matches;

A junior football pitch for mini matches;

A new clubhouse with changing and social facilities;

New access, 133-space car park, and infrastructure.

The new 7.75-hectare site at Labourham Drove is pasture land surrounded by rhynes and has a power line through it. The plan says Labourham rhyne, which bisects the site, will be diverted to a ditch along the northern boundary and a smaller ditch south of the rhyne filled in and likewise diverted, this time along the southern boundary.

Perhaps the biggest environmental hurdle is the bat activity recorded on the site by Michael Woods Associates. There were no roosts or feeding perches in the grounds and most of the activity was from common bats. But the experts said removing some hedgerows would affect bats who were commuting or foraging, though there were similar fields nearby. As for flood lighting, a curfew from 10pm weeknights and 8pm on weekends would be needed.

The 120-year-old Cheddar AFC currently has one floodlit pitch at Bowdens Park, along with changing rooms and a clubhouse.

Good news for Swansea. Really shouldn't have any trouble financing the expansion, barring a miraculous break down in performance this season.

Some video of the 1923 FA Cup final. It was estimated that 250,000 people watched the game at the old Wembley...

Hull City owner plans stadium move if they win promotion

Hull City owner Assem Allam says the club will look to leave its KC Stadium home if they gain promotion back to the Premier League.

Tuesday marks the 10-year anniversary of their first game at the ground, which the Tigers share with Super League side Hull FC.
Continue reading the main story

"I don't see the future of the club being at the KC Stadium," Allam told BBC Radio Humberside.

"If we get promoted, then there are other plans."

The Egyptian took over the club in December 2010 when they were around £35m in debt and the following May held discussions with Hull City Council about purchasing the ground and redeveloping the surrounding area in order to build a sporting village.

However, in September, talks ended without a deal being agreed and Allam is unwilling to spend money on a ground they do not own.

"There is no future for me and the KC Stadium unless it is freehold. If you rent a house, then you don't pay to put an extension on it," he said.

Allam is hopeful that the club, currently fourth in the Championship, can secure promotion back to the top-flight which they left when they were relegated in May 2010.

"The first season I came in we finished 12th and then eighth last season and we're level with third currently," he continued.

"We have managed to get Steve Bruce as manager and some more good new players and I hope we will be a Premier League team next season."

Meanwhile, the club have appointed Nick Thompson as their new managing director.

Red circle shows where they could end up, whilst the orange circle indicates the location of the current stadium:

Hopefully this can be resolved, 'cause that location in Melton sucks!
