Oh, I know what you are talking about now. I thought this was about a new circle line like I was proposing.

They need to change Lower Bay into a type of theme park type ride like the 'Earthquake' ride at Universal Studios. Except here they can use a real subway train in a real station!

That would be awesome!
I wonder how much money they make off of using it as a stand in subway station for other cities in the world?

I have a transit question. Does anyone know how long it takes to get to the airport from Kipling by using the 192 rocket? The schedule says it comes frequently between 12PM and 3PM, what does this mean in practical terms? Also, if I am coming from Finch station, do you guys think its possible to get to the airport within an hour by taking the subway down to Bloor, then to Kipling and then the express bus to Terminal 1 (I presume it goes to Terminal 1).

crap, that's what I thought. I guess I'll have to get a ride from someone to the airport. So much for using public transit to Pearson. Service is abysmal to such a large trip generator. It's sad frankly.

It's regularly about 45 minutes to an hour from Union to Terminal 1.

Service from Kipling to the Airport is actually quite good. Average speed for that leg of the journey is about 80km/h.

You might want to check GO. Good chance they run something between Finch or York Mills to Terminal 1. Try the Brampton route that runs along 401.

From Finch, your best bet by far is to take the subway to York Mills and a GO bus from there.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I looked at the GO website, the Brampton bus does go to Pearson but its once an hour during the day, and it unfortunately the times are not too convenient.

GO buses do not go to Terminal 1, as I recall they only go to Terminal 3. You'd need to take the free shuttle to get to T1.

I wish there was a petition for the opposite. Although I support the extension up to York University/Steeles. Just not beyond.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing York Regional Chair Bill Fisch hailing this as a solution to York Region's gridlock. This subway line is SO FAR away from Markham and Richmond Hill, which are large automobile trip generators into Toronto. If this was built on Yonge Street, it would have been more beneficial for York Region (as a whole).

I bet you this little stub of a line into the middle of nowhere in Vaughan will be empty as hell.

I support the line's extension to York University, but I also support NDP's calls to cancel the Vaughan portion of the line.

This money could be better spent on other priorities in the GTA. (Scarborough RT replacement which is soon approaching, VIVA Phase 2 bus only lanes, Transit City etc.)

Don't forget though, West Vaughan currently does not have any practical transit solutions. The Viva through there is slow and is stuck in gridlock, and there really isn't a GO station in the area either. At least with Yonge they want to improve Viva service as well as give it its own dedicated lanes.

Lots of cities have subway extensions into the suburbs: London, Washington, Boston, Madrid, etc. I don't see why it is so scary for them to do one for Toronto. Yes, there are clearly better places to put them, but you have to start somewhere.

I wonder if there would be as much opposition if there were active plans to put a subway along Eglinton, or a second downtown line...

Yes there is a GO Train nearby actually. Considering that people will drive to the subway station in Vaughan, the GO Rutherford Station is comparitively close.

That said, GO Bradford line service sucks.

I suppose that is true. Still would be nice to have a GO train through Woodbridge though.
