More pictures from the Romanian connectino at Calafat. AZVI, the Spanish contractor, worked incredibly fast. The structures below were completed in less than a year. ne year ago, there was nothing there.

It's incredible news, but apparently next month works for the conection infrastructure (railway, expressroad and checkpoint) to the bridge will be completed and opened. Source in Romanian

Unfortunatelly, no pictures from the site yet.

Hi neibghours.I am curios,why is there only one rail track on the bridge???

Isn´t this suposed to be an international rail corridor that requires at least 2 rail tracks?

I crossed border by ferry between Kalafat and Vidin in around 1995... long time ago....When I spoke to local woman from Vidin she was very skeptical and told me that she doesn't believe the bridge will be ever built... and there you go, it took couple of years but it is happening! Good job my friends from Romania and Bulgaria.

Well, it seems we have different idea about international coridors on the Balkans - it will have only one track. I hope it will not be a problem, because the single track section will be only on the bridge... if we decide to upgrade the railway line from Sofia to Vidin, which is also single-tracked.

Does anyone know if there is a border check point planned at either side of the bridge? Romania and Bulgaria were supposed to join Schengen this year, but some politicians decided Europe is much safer now without the accession.

For Romania there will be only a toll station (the building appears also in the pictures posted by Le Clerk). Possibly for a check point to be built on the Bulgarian bank.
