IU's Passage to India 2008

I was in India for about 15 days and went around Delhi and Nagpur. It felt great to be back in the motherland and see all the development first hand that we've discussed here at SSC.

This thread is the second thread in the Passage to India series. You can check the Passage to India 2006 trip here. The title is inspired by the book Passage to India written by EM Forster and a song by the same title by a California based desi band - Karmacy.

I flew Lufthansa from JFK and stopped over at Frankfurt for about 6 hours.

9W's A330-200 was parked at JFK-

We landed around 0030 hrs at IGI, Delhi. The airport interiors (as expected) have greatly improved since I was last there.

the corridor as one gets out of the aerobridge -

going down the escalator to the immigration counters. On the left is the (temporary?) men's toilet while on the extreme right (not shown) is the women's.

Waiting in the immigration line wasn't a pain even with the 400+ other people that were in my flight. I was in it for about 5 mins and I got my passport stamped in abt 1 minute. I retrieved my luggage in another 5 minutes and was out of the terminal. Outside there were 4-5 cranes working at the T3 site and the terminal access road was lined with the airport express rail barricades.

now onto the NH8 - Delhi-Gurgaon expressway -

we took the down ramp exit towards Vasant Vihar -

After taking the exit, we entered the Outer Ring Road -

Took a left onto RTR marg and headed towards Central Delhi

Moti Bagh flyover on the Ring Road

The next morning I headed to South Delhi to meet a couple of old school friends.

I took a left onto Aurobindo Marg. Here the 2nd phase of Line 2 could be seen u/c.

This is the site for the Jor Bagh metro station. Later on in my trip, I took a tour of this site and the site for the INA station.

Now onto the Outer Ring Road. This is the IIT flyover -
