Major Major

Right I didnt know where to put this so I thought I'd start my own topic.

My band Major Major have been invited to perform at the Pilton Working Men's Club in the live heats of Rockstar 08 on Saturday 23rd August.

RockStar 08 is a competition designed to unearth the best-of-the-best in the world of unsigned music. Backed by Michael Eavis, Glastonbury Festival’s father, the musician Peter Gabriel’s unique Real World Studio, this competition opens the doors to the most sought after prizes any unsigned talent could wish for.

We play in the last of four live heats that will be taking place during August on 1st, 2nd, 22nd and 23rd. From the heats six finalists will be selected to play at the Pilton Village Party on September 5th where Scouting for Girls will be playing the headline slot. The winner of the finals at the Pilton Village Party on September 5th will play at The Equinox Party, will receive recording time in Real World Studios and be the first to be confirmed for Glastonbury 2009

We're one of 24 unsigned bands from around Britain to have been picked for this competition so hopefully we can do ourselves justice, and hopefully win it, and show the talent that is in Liverpool, and what with it being 08, it would be ideal!!! And hopefully if we get far, it will be a step to open the doors for us to the music world proper!!

We have got our timeslot confirmed for the Mathew Street Fringe Festival. Were playing at 1.30pm at the Zanzibar on Monday 25th August if anyone fancies coming to watch. Should be a great gig, hoping to get a big crowd down!

On Saturday, we tore down the house at Pilton Working Men’s club leaving the audience buzzing from the frenetic dancing our set induced. The judges were astonished and speechless and it was said that the heat was the best of the lot.

We got the call today to say that we have now made it through to the final 6 of the Rockstar 08 competition out of hundreds of original applicants.

The final takes place on Friday 5th September where we will play with Scouting For Girls.
If we win the final we will be the first band confirmed for Glastonbury 2009, we will get studio time at Real World Studios and we will play the Equinox Party to an audience of 4000 alongside Duffy, The Ting Ting’s and …wait for it… MADNESS!!!!

We won! Gonna be playing glastonbury next year, playing the pilton equinox party with Franz Ferdinand and the TIng Tings on the 19th September and all looks amazing. we blew the 1,500 crowd away and the cheers we got at the end of our performance was fantastic, hopefully we can get signed now, we generated a hell of a lot of interest!

Don't know if anyone told you this mate but there was a story on your band being the first lined up for Glasto in every news bulletin during the day on 6music yesterday.

Just found this

http://efestivals.co.uk/news/080908c.shtml

The first act has been confirmed for next year's Glastonbury Festival which runs for five full days from Wednesday 24th June until Sunday 28 June 2009 across a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset.

The winner of the finals of the Rockstar unsigned competition, backed by the Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis, was decided on Friday 5th September. The winners were announced as Liverpool based Major Major who have won themselves a chance to play a live set at next year's Glastonbury Festival.

Major Major were the last of the six finalists in the competition to take to the stage. They were very well received by the crowd and soon after their performance they were crowned the competition winners.

As winners of the competition they will also play a live set at the Pilton Equinox Party on Friday 19th September, and have a two week recording session in Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios.
