The first highways shown in the first page are absolutely identical to the argentinean ones.

Nice pics.

Uruguay changed the international oval code from ROU to UY (official) this year. Need to correct the title of the thread.

This is interesting where Uruguay tend to use Blue Highway typeface rather than the FHWA.

Why Uruguay has a roundabout on a bridge?

The circular bridge

There was in Portugal, once a roundabout construction boom in cities. At the entrance, middle and exit of cities. The imagination of Portuguese mayors in these times, it was fruitful, but nothing that reaches the Uruguayan architect Rafael Viñoly, who envisioned a roundabout on a bridge.

The bridge, between the towns of Rocha and Maldonado, on the southeast coast of Uruguay, encourages traffic to slow down and allows citizens to let themselves be carried away by the beautiful view of the Laguna Garzón.

"The concept Bridge Laguna Garzón is transforming a traditional way in an event that reduces the speed of the cars, allowing them to enjoy the panoramic views and magnificent scenery - and at the same time create a place for pedestrians in the center [the roundabout] "says Viñoly, who lives in New York.

According to Inhabitat, the bridge will receive 1,000 cars a day and has rides for pedestrians on both sides of life. Ie, not quite a new road but scenery from the observation infrastructure. A gazebo.

The project was funded by Eduardo Constantini, real estate promoter who is responsible for a tourism project in Rocha. "It's an iconic architectural proposal that will lead to the development of rock coast, specially protected to preserve the direct contact with nature.

Only 35% of the area between the two lakes to be changed - and 50% will have to be devoted to green areas, "he said. Still, according to La Nacion, the building was viewed with displeasure by local environmental groups.

Interbalnearia IB Route (Montevideo-Punta del Este)

Ruta Interbalnearia (which means Inter-resort Route) or Ruta Líber Seregni is a national route of Uruguay. It connects Montevideo with Punta del Este to the east along the coast. The road is approximately 90 kilometres (56 mi) in length. It is marked in the maps and the signs as IB. The distance notation along Ruta Interbalnearia uses the same Kilometre Zero reference as Routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 which is the Pillar of Peace of Plaza de Cagancha in the Centro of Montevideo.
