Work Begins On South Korea's Tallest Residences
 Groundwork is has begun on what will be the tallest solely residential building in South Korea once it is finished. The four tower Lake Park scheme at Cheongna Posco in the Korean city of Incheon has been designed by Heerim Architects and features buildings up to 190 metres and 58 floors tall. The development which will be set in a new landscaped urban park, has four towers set along a single axis with the height of each of the buildings increasing by several floors as they step up towards the nearby river giving the impression of a marginal increase in height. The colour tones of blue glazing and white cladding in between along with the strong vertical mass of each wing help create a sharp and clean look that wouldn’t be out of place overlooking the Mediterranean. The arrangements are such that each building has four wings of accommodation set around a central core like spokes allowing triple aspect views from the apartments and avoiding deep floor-plates that would prevent the widespread penetration of natural light. Penthouse levels will have the additional advantage of roof terraces for their wealthy occupants to enjoy. The development is being built by Posco E&C with the involvement of Hyundai Construction as a joint venture between developers HeungHwa Industry and the Korean Land-Housing Corporation. Completion of the quartet is set to occur in 2013. |
