It could be interesting to have these kind of maps at the same scale of the biggest tram cities to make a confrontation... Ok, any designers here?

Ok, I made it by myself

These maps are referred to Milan tram network and, if I wasn't wrong, the scale is the same of the Moscow network map previously posted...
You can clearly see in confrontation to Russian capital how the web is more compact and 'dense'

wow thanks Der Meister for that detailed map... it looks huge... i'm only familiar with Vienna tram system and it amazes me every time... but Moscow must be much interesting...

why aren't those lines in NW connected with rest of the network?

285 kms or something currently (actually it should be 290 as I added the extension to Cinissello which will open this saturday)

With forecasted extensions I don't know: I based my map on a Pim document http://www.pim.mi.it/SIT_mobilita.html#002

Melbourne

It was either this tiny picture, or a massive picture. I chose the small one...

tramlines are only in the easter part of berlin. only a few km (build in the last years) are in the western part.

"M"-MetroTram are 24/7!

track lenght: 190km
line lenght: 430km

(sorry about the quality)

I'm preparing few maps of world's biggest tram cities at the same scale

Is the figure of 250 km for Melbourne right? Apparently it seems to be much more extensive

could it be that the Milan figure only includes bundled lines as one figure?

On Atm official website they count number of lines.. then I assume thery're reffering just to active tracks served by lines http://www.atm-mi.it/ATM/eng/Azienda/ATM_cifre.htm

More... data update say 289.3 on 12/31/07 that means with today, with Lagosta-Cinisello, we have to add about 7 kmm of new track

Anyway... probably they count twice lines which share the same tracks; could be, because trolleybus datus on that list makes me thing; 40.4 km: yep, it could be, but I thought more something like 30; trolley circle lines (90/91) is more than 20 km long, but the other two lines, which shares part of the run with 90/91, additional tracks I doubt are 10 km each

I need to check

Genius Loci those maps are amazing.

I have to admit I would love to see a map like that of Toronto!

Our network is not huge but it is pretty respectable.

Each individual route can be found here for those who are curious:

In post #32, I presented the above map and listed it as 305 km. There seems to be varying methods of counting track length, but by any measure, I'd qualify Toronto's network as huge. It's certainly one of the largest in the world. Maybe 'Genius Loci' will do a nice Toronto version of his maps for us.

There are 300kms+ in the Ruhr in Germany, although it is not so connex like one single city. [S-bahn is more used for longer distances]

So Moscow got 2 seperated tram lines? Seems like there is one main one and then another smaller one. Why aren't these connected?
