Although the China Pavilion has the same general design element, it is totally different in its built form. It uses block shapes, not the true inverted triangle used in the Canadian pavilion. Is every box skyscraper a copy of another? yes, in shape, but its about the design elements that seperate the look of the tower.

I think it is sour graps by the Canadian journalist, just as the British press loved to critise the Canadians aout their running of the winter olympics. Its easy to throw stones and try to ruin the moment for another country but once its your turn, theres even more pressure to perform.

For me the best pavilions from Spain and UK, all the rest can be spectaculars but are not so original

So as the rest of the world . . . what then can be original?

It's important to know the essense to make them, not just learning it and pack them up in the brain . . .

Like a feeling.

Agree.
Also the whole seems to me a bit weird. I mean all those buildings next to each other...

Yes why Spain instead of Italy?

Lots of fun it seems.

It's like Sacred Familia and going all pale and brutal like a box of chocolate and a pinky pair of Greek shoes.

That's Kicky . . . where normally Spain is nothing but a healing-beauty.

No, they built China's 380 KM high speed train with Japanese help so the front looks better than the Japanese one. BTW, Shanghai world expo is completed, not under construction.

Canada's pavilion at Expo 1967:

The chinese pavilion at Expo 2010:

Its a shame that these Journalists are trying to spoil the expo. Do they have real life pictures of the Canadian Pavilion back in 1967. I sense its an attempt to spoil the atmosphere. Is it also a coincidence that there is some sort of obstruction in front of the Canadian pav back in 1967 in the picture above (the round circular ball) to make it resemble the one China has and not make it look like an inverted pyramid?

Anyways, I think that all the pavilions look quite interesting with the UK one being the most innovative. The China pavilion is typically Chinese lol, it also shares some similarity to the opera house in Chongqqing.

to an untrained eye, there maybe similarities between the two pavilions, but for anyone who knows about traditional Chinese architecture, the design of the structure echos the way wooden beams were used to distribute weight of massive roofs that decorated traditional temples. Suggesting the Chinese copied the Canadians in their design of the expo pavilion would be like suggesting the Egyptians copied the Aztec (in that order) in the design of their pyramids.

No offense to the Canadians, but like who's got the longer more important history? Sorry, but it's just sour grapes from a journalist who's ancestors are most likely colonists from Europe.

Are they REALLY REALLY going to demolish most of these after the end of expo. They should just distribute some of these pavilions to other Chinese cities...and make them art center or w.e. Easy being said...disassembling or moving some of these can be a hassle.
