I have this 1949 National Geographic Magzine at home (hehe.. I am not that old, bought it from a library sale). There is an artical on Pittsburg. In 1949, it was the "manufacturing capital" of the world.

Wonder what is the main industry of Pittsburg now?

Great pictures... I may be moving from Tampa to Pittsburgh, so it is great to see these shots of downtown. I also like the neighborhood tours.

There are some very nice architectural pieces in the city and that curvy glass building looks absolutely stunning. I must say that overall I was a little disappointed though, I expected a little better from a city touted as one of the nicest in the US!

Excellent shots all the same though, thank you for sharing.

Really? Pittsburgh doesn't even have that great of a rep here in the US. It's not talked about all that often. Who said it was one of the nicest in the US? Im impressed you've ever even heard of this city!!

Anyway, Awesome photos. I love Pittsburgh. Its a unique city that has quality to it, thanks for the photos

It's meant to be one of the cities in the US with a very high standard of life and good public transportation - which gives it a vibrant downtown area (apparently). Sure, it looks very nice, but I think I missed a bit of the hype surrounding it!

I was a little surprised when I got there that there are signs everywhere from the airport to the freeways to downtown billboards proclaiming Pittsburgh as the "Most Livable City in America." From what I can tell, that title was bestowed on the city by a magazine a few years ago and the city has embraced it as truth and won't let it go.

As we all know, these "Best city in America for..." magazine articles are rarely based in fact and are used to pump up the publisher's circulation in a particular region. That's why you so rarely see "Best city in America for five years running!"

I would love to visit Pittsburgh some day. What spectacular architecture and variety. Definitely one of the best skylines around.

PNC Park in Pittsburgh is my favorite MLB stadium alongside Petco in San Diego.
