What is that building with the gold roof in the 3rd and 4th last photos? It's outstanding.

Pittsburgh is definitey one of the most unique cities in NA. I've never been to any other place like it.

However, like Detroit, Cleveland, St. Louis, etc., Pittsburgh is another one of those formerly-titanic American cities that punches far above its weight in architecture. The pre-war buildings downtown are as fine and grand as any (and in much better shape than other rust-belt juggernauts).

Home of the Pirates and the Steelers, Pittsburgh... really love those pics indeed. Makes me wanna go there, especially for the number of bridges in that city. Just adore the fountain too.

Definitely larger and more impressive than one would expect! Where I'm from it doesn't have a very high profile and no one seems to know anything about it beyond sports, but it looks more impressive than its reputation or population would suggest.

Also, I saw a documentary once that said the ESB was actually made in Pittsburgh. The main components were made in factories there and transported to the site where they were assembled by the steel workers, which I found very interesting.

Great thread! I love all Rust Belt major cities, their downtowns are outstanding. And this building is just terrific!
