I feel kind of indifferent about it.

You would have thought they would have gone for something taller considering the value of land where its located.

I love this! It looks like a baby Swiss RE, in terms of the shape. I hope this goes ahead!

they did consider something taller but then there was the issue of it being visible behind the tower of london.

Is that the new UNESCO sightline?

Its not. Its nowhere near the new sightline. The developers got spooked that it would be seen behind one of the corner pinnacles of the white tower so cut this from 40 to an 18 storey. Minerva would've been far more prominent .

like it - bit of curveceous action going on. The bowing outwards from the base sort of reminds me of 20 Fenchurch Street (which I also like). Fine midrise for the eastern part of the city in my view. Good render of all the other towers as well.

looks like an awful SketchUp exploded shape...something you would expect from 1st year student architects.

I think it could be improved by making it 3 dimensionally more interesting...say like tapering the back, hey they could have even made it like like a huge Thames barrier gate - would have been far better. (though perhaps it would look even more akin to 20FC?!

It's The Gherkin with Lime Street cladding.
Architect is trying too hard to impress. I don't like it.

Basically what I was thinking. The first pic actually makes it look fairly decent amid the cluster, but there is no street-level integration whatsoever (that second pic is totally overbearing), the design itself lacks anything substantial to make it a great addition to the Sq Mile, and at 90m I think it could end up looking stumpy when viewed from certain angles.

I don't think it's terrible like some of you here, it wouldn't trouble me too much if they did actually build it, but I do think it's a bit of a wasted opertunity...something taller, sleeker and that brings something positive and unique to the City clsuter, rather then looking like Swiss Re' stumpy cousin.

Actually, the design LiamF1 posted on the previous page aint half bad, I'd prefer that in all honesty!

I haven't seen anything like this on the same scale. It is a shocking design, and I suspect it is provoking the same reactions that the Gherkin got when it's design was first unveiled.
At first glance it looks too deep which makes it look massive. It needs variation along its length, or a shortening that empahsises height, not density.
I think, given it will evolve, this could wind up being pretty special.
