Amsterdam The Charming

The second city I will present to you is Amsterdam. A very charming and imo weird city. The sky was overcast during my three day stay in this beatiful city, which was quite a contrast to the extremely hot and sunny Copenhagen.

Anyway, here goes:

Enjoy!

nice photos, but it's a bit sad to see you've only walked the traditional tourist streets, in fact there are far more beautiful places in amsterdam like "de baarsjes" and "oud-zuid" and " het vondelpark"! Amsterdam has one of the largest old city centres in the world so there is plenty to discover!

^Yeah would be nice to see those areas as well. I walked around the city for three days and although Amsterdam is really beatiful it looks pretty much the same wherever you go. I guess I missed those areas you mentioned. Now I know where to go next time I visit!

Thanks for your comments

^ The city seems hard to grasp. Most neighbourhoods look the same. Although the city is very beatiful the architecture becoms boring in the end. Maybe I sould have visited the outer areas as Mscraper suggested. On the other hand Amsterdam is a really lively city with loads of bars, coffee shops, restaurants to try out and the night life is really good.

"Plan Zuid" from Berlage is pretty different from the city centre, but very beautiful in it's own way. A great area to watch architecture. The Eastern Docklands and IJburg are also nice area's for architecture. Large urban area's from Van Eesteren, which are not very nice, but with certain ideas (the Van Eesteren area's are changing rapidly now).

I did see some rather intesresting modern buildings from the train. They looked like contemporary versions of traditional old Amsterdam houses, and they were a lot larger as well.

That is the beginning and latest part of the Eastern Docklands area. The most interesting parts are more away from the city centre. Especially on architecture there is far more to see in Amsterdam than most people know and see.
