DOHA | Qatar National Bank HQ | 510m | 1673ft | 101 fl | On Hold

Qatar bank eyes tower over 509 metres tall -magazine

DUBAI, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Qatar National Bank , the country's largest lender by market value, plans to build one of the world's tallest towers in the Qatari capital Doha to house its new headquarters, a magazine reported on Sunday.

The skyscraper, for which main contractors have been invited to express interest, would be taller than the 509-metre Taipei 101 tower in Taiwan, which is the world's tallest completed building, London-based weekly MEED reported in its latest issue.

The tower will have a total built-up area of 235,000 square metres, with five basement levels, MEED said without saying where it got the information.

Burj Dubai, being developed by Emaar Properties , will become the world's tallest building when it is completed in 2009.

If the tower rises 510 metres, why does it only have 61 floors?

per segment i count about 50 floors, esp. when u look at the video u see that 3 floors are separated with one of those "balconies"

so it could well be more than 500m.

Nice design.

Would this building still count in terms of "tallest building?" According to wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...s_in_the_world

only buildings with continuously inhabitable floors are counted...do those "balconies" count?

I doubt it's going to be a huge crown, I think it's going to be very high floors.
