Baekyangsa in Jang-Seong County (백양사, 장성군)
Baekyangsa is one of the famous temples of Korea. It is known to be established in the age of King Mu of Baekje. The original name was Baekamsa, and called as Jeongtosa after undergoing a great reconstruction by the Buddhist monk Jungyeonseonsa in 1034. In the age of King Seonjo, when Hwanyangseonsa was preaching Geumganggyeong at Yeongcheonam(am means big rock), people flocked together like clouds. On the 3rd day of Buddhist ceremony, a white sheep came down and listened to the preach, and the last day of the two-day ceremony, the white sheep appeared in his dream and bowed, saying 'I became a sheep because I committed a crime in heaven, but now I return to heaven. I have born again after listening to your preach.' The very next day, a white sheep was found dead under Youngcheonam, thus afterwards, people called the temple Baekayngsa, baekyang meaning a ‘white sheep.’ source                 photo source : http://gall.dcinside.com/canong/215758 |

Gwangju is not very developed city as other cities in Korea.
Post some more traditional buildings from Gwangju rather than boring city views with crammed apartments. |

Hi, I'm currently in Gwangju--well until early June, after having lived here for a year teaching. It's an okay city--kind of boring but Sangmu seems to be modernizing but they need a few more tall high-rises to make it more interesting. They also need a couple more subway lines to connect more places of interest.
