Huadian to invest in Hebei

CHINA Huadian Corp, one of China's five largest power producers, plans to invest more than 50 billion yuan (US$7.3 billion) in an energy project in the northern province of Hebei.

China Huadian signed an agreement with the city of Tangshan on October 30 to construct a project covering ports, power plants and coal-to-chemicals projects at the Caofeidian port in Tangshan, the Beijing-based company said on its Website.

The annual production value of the whole project could reach 20 to 30 billion yuan (US$2.9-4.4 billion) on completion.

"It heralds a new era of our cooperation with Tangshan," Li Qingkui, Huadian Group deputy general manager, said.

It is the last of the five top power generators to invest in major comprehensive projects integrating coal, power, harbor and transport following China Huaneng Group, China Datang Corp, China Guodian Corp and China Power Investment Corp.

China Huadian Corp recorded losses of 2.65 billion yuan in the first half as it was hit by soaring coal prices and government control of electricity prices, as well as the country's tight monetary policy.

Losses by the country's top five power companies reached 21.4 billion yuan in the first nine months.

Any chance they are going to replace the train to Tibet with a faster train?

and thanks for posting the videos, I think it's true what that guy said, people of Shanghai know the biggest Chinese port is being built in their city which they are pride of that while the people of California don't know the biggest American port is located in Los Angeles and they don't care either.

Hangzhou Bay Bridge

The bridge itself is 35.673 kilometres (22 miles) long with six expressway lanes in two directions. The bridge has two main spans, with a 448-metre (1,470 ft) northern span, and a 318-metre (1,043 ft) southern span.[3] The designated speed is 100 kilometres per hour (62 mph), and the designed longevity is more than 100 years. Orthotropic steel deck is used on its main spans and five ramp bridges, and was paved with 50 millimetres (2.0 in) epoxy asphalt concrete. The bridge is shaped in an 'S', presumably so that the annual Silver Dragon (a particularly strong tidal wave [1]) is minimally affected. The length of the bridge is decorated with flashing lights of different colors to distract from drowsiness, and keep attention on the road instead. This is also the real reason for 'S' shape.

Three Gorges Dam

The dam wall is made of concrete and is about 2,309 metres (7,575 ft) long, and 101 metres (331 ft) high. The wall is 115 metres (377.3 ft) thick on the bottom and 40 metres (131.2 ft) thick on top. The project used 27,200,000 cubic metres (35,600,000 cu yd) of concrete, 463,000 tonnes of steel, enough to build 63 Eiffel Towers, and moved about 102,600,000 cubic metres (1.342E+8 cu yd) of earth.

When the water level is maximum at 175 metres (574 ft) over sea level (91 metres (299 ft) above river level), the reservoir created by the Three Gorges Dam is about 660 kilometres (410 mi) in length and 1.12 kilometres (0.70 mile) in width on average, and contains 39.3 cu km (9.43 cubic miles) of water.The total surface area of the reservoir is 1045 km². The reservoir will flood a total area of 632 km² of land compared to the 1,350 km² of reservoir created by the Itaipu Dam. The Three Gorges Dam reservoir is longer than the 560 kilometres (348 mi) length of Lake Superior, but only 1.1 % of the surface area of the lake (82,400 km²) and about 1/700 of the volume of the lake (28700 cu km).

No, demand isn't there for a higher speed train, and likely never will. Anyway, it's already pretty fast at 160km/h, making it faster will bring very low return on investment, since Tibet isn't really a destination for many people except for tourists, who probably would prefer the medium-speed "journey" through the beautiful scenery afforded by the current speed of the train.

Faster trains carry many implications; economically and structurally, the train speed I think is designated specifically for the structural design of the railway, positioned in the Tibet plateau, the structure itself is already coping with extreme conditions of that area, speeding up the train will add more physical phenomenons to the structure such as vibration (resonance). And from the economic aspect, I think Barbaric already made that clear. Perhaps, some tourits prefer a slow train so they can take a full glimpse of the plateau. As the train ascends higher above sea level, the air gets thinner and oxygen partial pressure is lower and that cause drowsiness and dizziness (I think I read somewhere before that a female passenger on this train suffered from this), so maybe a slower trains would give the body more time for acclimatization.

TIANJIN -- Work will start in the first half of 2009 on a high-speed railway connecting Tianjin, a port city on the Bohai Sea, and Baoding, a city in central Hebei Province, it was announced at a meeting here on Saturday.

The meeting, in the Binhai New Area, was attended by officials from the Ministry of Railways, Tianjin Municipality and Hebei Province.
The line will be 145 km long, with trains running up to 250 km per hour,according to the Ministry of Railways. The link will cost 24 billion yuan (about $3.52 billion), but no detailed financial plans are yet available.

There is no rail link at present, only a freeway. The line will create a route linking Tianjin, the largest port city in north China, and the vast central and western areas of China, said a ministry official.

China starts construction of Nanning-Guangzhou railway

Work began on Sunday on a high-speed rail link between Nanning and Guangzhou that will cut travel time between the two south China cities from almost 13 hours to three.

A ceremony was held in Wuzhou, a city in southwestern Guangxi, to mark the commencement on Sunday. Present at the function were local government authorities of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangdong Province, as well as Liu Zhijun, Minister of Railways.

The link will be 577.1 km long, of which 61 percent will be in Guangxi, and allow trains to run up to 200 km per hour. It will be completed in an estimated 54 months and cost about 41 billion yuan ($6 billion), according Chen Boshi, chief of Nanning Railways Administration.

The cost will be shared by the Ministry of Railways, Guangdong province and Guangxi, said Chen.

Guangdong province governor Huang Huahua said he hoped the link would advance the goal of a Pan-Pearl River Delta and help connect southeast China to members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Liu said the project was significant, as it came amid the world financial crisis and thus would help boost domestic demand.

记者冯源发自浙江秦山核电站西侧的方家山厂址:经过核电建设者一年多的辛苦努力,“四通一平”的前期工程已经告竣,两座反应堆基坑也已经开挖完毕,悬挂有“实现秦山核电站新跨越”字样条幅的塔吊高高矗立在一旁。中核集团秦山核电有限公司分管扩建项目工程计划和工程管理的副总经理徐鹏飞说:“方家山核电工程建成后,秦山一期核电站将拥有1台30万千瓦原型堆核电机组和2台100万千瓦的先进国产化压水堆核电机组,实现自主管理运营核电从30万到100万千万的历史性跨越。”

【总体进展】阳江核电站自2003年表土剥离以来,已完成各项前期准备工作,投入资金达40亿元人民币,首台机组将在年底动工。据广东阳江发展和改革局副局长叶成青介绍,到明年3月,阳江核电工地施工人数可达到上万人,整个工程将为阳江地区提供4000多个就业岗位。据了解,这里还将建设全国第一个核电产业园区,目前已启动研究核电产业园区的规划选址相关工作,规划面积达5平方公里。

浙江秦山核电厂扩建工程得到国务院的核准,意味着项目前期审批阶段的各项工作已经全部完成。据中核集团秦山核电有限公司分管扩建项目工程计划和工程管理的副总经理徐鹏飞介绍,下一步的主要工作是申请由国家核安全局颁发的建造许可证,实现在年内正式开工的目标。

【现场报道】记者张先国、朱剑敏、李明在湖北丹江口大坝报道:百米高的大坝把汉江拦腰截住,水库内烟波浩渺,蔚为壮观。南水北调的中线水源地是丹江口水库,南水北调中线水源工程由丹江口大坝加高、水库移民、陶岔枢纽三大项目组成。丹江口大坝高程要由162米抬高至176.6米,相应库容由174.5亿立方米增至290.6亿立方米,这是国内最大的大坝加高工程。除取水口的陶岔枢纽工程亟待启动开工外,另两个工程进展顺利。据南水北调中线水源有限责任公司副总经理齐耀华介绍,目前大坝54个坝段有43个已达到预定高程,预计在明年6月20日之前,坝面将全线贯通;2万多人的首批试点移民工程资金已陆续到位,有望2009年9月完成。

【总体进展】截至10月底,南水北调东、中线一期工程累计下达投资343亿元,工程建设项目累计完成投资221亿元。目前实现的投资只占全部投资额的不到十分之一,在扩大内需的背景下,我国将大幅增加对南水北调工程的资金投入,目前中线一期天津干线等一批工程已全面开工。根据最新建设目标,东线一期工程建设目标为2013年通水;中线一期工程建设目标为2013年主体工程完工,2014年汛后通水。在未来一段时间,南水北调工程投入的巨大投资,将拉动沿线经济迅速发展。据估算,每年可直接拉动中国经济0.2至0.3个百分点,增加就业人口50至60万。(执笔记者:张旭东、程云杰、张先国)

合肥晚报讯 近日国家出台扩大内需促进经济增长的十项措施,其中加快铁路建设是一项重要内容。按计划明后两年铁路建设及机车购置投资达2.3万亿元,合肥如何参与?记者昨从市发改委获悉,合肥至明年底前拟建九大铁路项目,随着这些项目的建成,合肥作为全国重要铁路枢纽中心城市的地位将形成。

两火车站将大手笔改造

  合肥两大火车站改造项目将开始启动。其中,合肥西站站房南移项目按主站房1.1万平方米、广场4.2万平方米的规模设计,既有的西站将南移150米重建,项目投资额约为5000万元。项目建成后站房面积扩大一倍,容纳旅客可达3000人,还将配套建设出租车、公交车和社会车辆停靠广场,并新建作为城市景观广场之一的站前广场。在西站异地重建的同时,“断头”的望江西路可“跨”过铁路连通高新区。

  此外,随着合宁铁路客运专线引入合肥火车站,今年底合武铁路客运专线也将引入该站,加上规划建设的合蚌客运专线,合肥火车站改造扩建工程即将启动。据悉,合肥站站房外立面改造将借鉴上海、南京、武汉等城市火车站建筑立面风格提升档次。在站房改造方面,建筑主体不改变,主要是改造内部结构,5个站台上方将改造成一个全钢结构的巨大波浪形顶棚,站台之间没有柱子且空间高,使空气更通畅、噪音更小、旅客通行换乘更快捷。目前,该项目方案正在进一步细化中。初步预计投资额约5亿元。

  铁路南站后年完成搬迁工作

  合肥铁路南站地区搬迁改造备受社会关注。目前,这项总投资约为16亿元项目的前期工作正在全面推进中,待铁道部可研报告批复下达后,拟于今年12月18日举行开工仪式。预计,2010年6月底前可完成南站地区的搬迁工作。

  新建铁路沪汉蓉快速铁路引入合肥枢纽南环线工程项目,今年9月3日可研方案通过铁道部评审,10月底,线位定测已经展开。该项目投资估算约为80亿元,争取2009年一季度开工,2010年底建成。

  建快速通道4小时抵京

  随着一系列铁路项目的启动,合肥今后可以实现4小时到北京。据市发改委介绍,正在规划建设的合蚌铁路客运专线明年有望启动,该专线是合肥北上快速通道的重要组成部分,设计行车速度为200公里/小时以上。该项目投资估算为97.5亿元,总工期3.5年。目前,可研报告已报送国家发改委审批。

  规划中的合肥地区铁路项目还有:宁西铁路南阳至合肥段改建项目,该项目设计投资估算总额为260多亿元,有望2010年开工,计划2013年12月竣工并投入使用。目前,该项目方案正在进一步细化中。根据今年3月铁道部和福建省政府签署的“新一轮铁路建设的会议纪要”,将建设从京沪高速铁路的安徽蚌埠站引出,经合肥、黄山、江西上饶至福建武夷山、南平、福州的铁路,使其成为北京至福州的铁路快速大通道。该项目尚处于前期规划中,2010年有望开工建设。

  另根据今年9月铁道部、安徽省达成的协议,商杭线(商丘~阜阳~合肥~杭州客运专线)和皖赣铁路复线项目都有望明年开工建设。 (藕海滨)

记者昨日从兰州铁路局获悉,西安至兰州将建客运专线,建成后开行动车组。届时,西安到兰州运行时间仅需要1.9-2.7小时,比现在缩短4.7-6.7小时。

国家近日出台扩大内需、促进经济增长十项措施,明确提出要“重点建设一批客运专线、煤运通道项目和西部干线铁路”。为快速扩充运输能力,扩大路网规模,完善路网结构,兰州铁路局按照中央和铁道部的总体部署要求,规划出铁路运输今后一个时期的发展蓝图。随着西北地区经济健康快速发展,铁路运输需求持续旺盛,兰州至西安客运专线被提上日程,专线建成后将开行动车组,时速可达到300-350公里/小时,兰州到西安运行时间仅需要1.9-2.7小时,比现在缩短4.7-6.7小时,将极大释放既有陇海线能力。
