this is a pic of the wesside of the peaks, her you can see that Petlie and Orlovec peaks are also quite amazing. Unfortunately you can see those peaks from very few places in the valley cause there´s too much forest there, you have to find the few treeless places.

Better say, well done Rila, since that´s the only mountain in Bulgaria with such alpine peaks.

I bet the air is extremely clean and you can actually sense the smell of fir trees, right?
We know that our mountains can´t compare to the Alps, the highest height difference valley - peak here in rila is 1400 m and 1500 m which is good for Alps standart, too but that´s in one valley, in all big valleys you have a few places with height differences of more than 1000 m, which is not bad. The good thing in rila is that most slopes are very smooth so they look bigger. If you look in Nasa worldwind you can see that most slopes of the big valleys are smooth, so are the rockwalls and that´s good because the walls look more like one. In the Alps you have many peaks with walls which look like steep stairs or so and have lots of debris. Half the peak is wall, the lower half is debris that doesn´t look as great as the whole peak of massive rock. the Rila mountain is definatly a mountain with great characteristics.

TOO BEAUTIFUL

The Rila mountain burns, a valley near Blagoevgrad, the fucking whtether and the not competent stuff can´t stop the fucking fire so the mountain burns. I never thought the Rila mountain will burn since it´s the mountain with the most water in Bulgaria but it seems that even this mountain can´t serve the heat and dryness of this year. It´s even more incredible than last year, unbelievable.

Radi, what is going on there right now, are there enough people and equipment to fight the fire. 6 days passed, is there any chance the fire to stop soon?
Pfff, how i miss Moussala...

It´seems that with the help of French and Greek planes they will be able to stop the fire within two days. Thanks to the French. I hope the fire wont cause much damage to the magnificent and very steep (steepest in Bulgaria) valleys and slopes.

Rila in winter mountain, I went near Bodrost.

The rila mountain is the only real mountain in bulgaria, only there you really find big slopes and typical characteristics you see in big mountain ranges like the Alps and Rocky mountains. It has lots of deep long valleys and numerous peaks which can´t be climbed without alpine equipment and experience, Pirin lacks both, deep valleys and alpine peaks.

You need an AUDI Quattro for these roads.....

Here's a picture I took in 2007 that is very similar to the other pictures above. The end or the beginning of Rila mountain near Separeva Banya on Route 62.
