USC has been there for ages. Plus, the Coliseum is host to numerous international soccer matches throughout the year, concerts etc.
This venue isn't going anywhere, it cannot be demolished as it is a City, County, State AND National landmark. The problem has been the Commission that runs it, it's the worse thing in the world. Site http://www.lacoliseum.com/index2.html |

Thanks for the input guys, I tend to forget that colleges care more about locations then up to date stadiums.

or just nixed the roofs altogether since you'd seldom need them in L.A.

This would be difficult to implement, as it would involve raising the field level about 30 feet. The model was built with the field level the same as the outside ground level, but the current field level is about 30 feet below. Trying to build this design with the current field level would involve changing many of the specifics.

Anyway, the NFL was horrified to see that neither of their conditions was being taken seriously, and at the September 9, 1999 meeting of the owners expansion committee, the committee reported to the league that things were going from terrible to worse in LA, as they had gone from two to three competing ownership groups (Marvin Davis joining the fun and games), when they should have been down to one. The committee directed the group representing Houston to attend the October 6 owners meeting, and at that meeting the expansion franchise offer to Los Angeles was rescinded, and awarded to Houston. There are those that claim that the NFL was always biased against LA, but that is stupidity in the extreme. Until September 9, there had been zero discussion with the Houston group for six months. Los Angeles had the expansion franchise, and fumbled it away. The league said meet these two conditions, and your team will kick off in 2002. It was that simple. LA screwed up in spades and diamonds, and the excuses and denials have been flying ever since. |

Well if your gonna rip one off thats a petty good place to start. I actually like that proposal quite a bit, I know it has its similarities to Paul Brown and was the same lead architect on the design, but that doesn't make it a bad design. Nor is it a Paul Brown clone. Could have looked pretty good, and lets face a professional team like USC could use a proper professional stadium.
