No pictures? I need pictures, I never read the text around here because it's always childish bickering. So I open a thread and scroll to the pics. Now where are the pics!?

This is what I could find quickly from OKCTalk, courtesy of Doug L.

This will be the new main entrance atrium and expansion. I know the seating and suites will be redone (adding more luxury suites and bunker suites), office space, new locker rooms (NBA specific), a NBA practice court (with public viewing area), a kidzone, in addition to other things like better bathrooms, floors, and aesthetics. I also think there will be a couple of rooftop gardens, which will be very cool.

The upgrade is taking place with 3 phases, during the NBA offseason. Two phases have been completed. The 3rd phase will see the major construction of the new expansion.

I think so Dale, at least that is the plan as I understand it.

(3 phases, to coincide with the NBA offseason).

I don't suspect the Thunder will go to the playoffs this season (and certainly not deep into the playoffs if they make it) - so that gives the city basically the, mid/late Apr-first Oct, to build the superstructure and shell in all of the other goodies - I think it is doable.

Ford Center should really be a first rate NBA arena once complete. I think OKC was very smart building it this way - in phases.

Tell you what, the Thunder just took the defending champ to the wire, and then annihilated the defending runner-up. They may be for real.

You're right Dale, the Thunder is doing very well this year. Kudos!

I can't wait to see the phase 3 construction (and it complete, lol).

As of October 2010, the Ford Center is named "Oklahoma City Arena" since the naming rights deal with Ford was terminated.

Seattle was not interested in building a new arena, while Oklahoma was willing to pass a penny tax to make this arena top 5 in the NBA. They had their chance.

I guess I got mad at how they handled it as if ford arena was an upgrade from key arena at that exact moment in time. I understand now why a city wouldn't want to upgrade or replace a stadium that was newly renovated in 94.
