I think Incheon deserves its own pics thread, while it's a part of Seoul Metropolitan area. In fact, Incheon itself is another metropolitan city. and actually, Incheon gets growing fast to much bigger city than now.

인천경제자유구역, 성냥갑 아파트 사라진다

앞으로 인천경제자유구역(IFEZ)에서 성냥갑 같은 판상형 모양의 아파트들이 사라질 것으로 보인다.

인천경제자유구역청은 도시경관을 창조적이고 차별화해 IFEZ를 국제적인 도시로 만들기 위해 아파트와 오피스, 상업용 건물 형태에 대한 디자인 심의를 강화하기로 했다고 20일 밝혔다.

경제청은 그동안 경기부진에 따른 건설업체의 어려움을 고려해 건물 디자인을 엄격하게 심의하지 않았으나 계속 이 방침을 유지할 경우 경제자유구역내 도시경관을 망칠 것으로 보고 심의강화로 방향을 전환키로 한 것.

이같은 방침에 따라 최근 경제청은 송도국제도시 3개, 청라경제자유구역 2개 아파트에 대한 건축심의에서 모두 건물 디자인 등을 이유로 부결했다. 앞으로도 경제청은 특색 없는 모양의 아파트에 대해서는 바로 건축위원회를 통과시키지 않고 재심의를 통해 보완토록 할 계획이다.

이와 함께 경제청은 오피스와 상업용 빌딩 등 분양가 상한제 적용을 받지 않는 건물에 대해서는 아파트보다 더 강화된 디자인을 요구하기로 했다.

경제청 관계자는 “IFEZ가 세계적인 도시가 되려면 이에 맞는 독특한 디자인의 건물들이 들어서도록 심의를 강화할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

those first world towers look sooo tall standing next to those apartments and they are only like 200 something meters tall...I guess Seoul just has wayyy too many hi-rise apartments that's why it's hard to notice tall skyscrapers lol

I think it's rather because those apartments are far in the distance. As far as I kinow, construction around First World towers are still under construction.
