look great. I barely trust tianjin with buildings though, is there an update to prove it's u/c?

Why do you not "trust tianjin with buildings"? Just because some buildings are just in the foundation phase doesn't mean they aren't u/c. So impatient! You should take a visit, there are thousands of buildings u/c, however, Binhai New Area buildings will rise later because they were started later (it was just created in 2007).

Tianjin is in fact going through remarkable construction boom. You can really appreciate it if you fly into the city in the early evening -ground under the landing plain is full of flashes (like tribunes of the stadium), but not from camera flashers but welding ones...
On the ground it's may not be that obvious cause it sin't really concentrated in one spot like many other places. Still many areas had already changed beyond recognition. I mean if you look on google earth at Tianjin a and then look at city as it is now you wouldn't recognize place at all. all those empty spots along HaiHe in downtown are now like a forest of towers rising

Very strange looking. Not really a bad thing, though. This will be interesting.

Maybe because the construction site is a 45 minute drive or 2 hour bus ride from the city...the photographers can't go there all the time and there isn't really much to see in foundation phase. Unfortunately you'll probably have to wait a few more years to hear info, once the new CBD starts rising. This isn't a major tower u/c compared to the others in the area, so it's not a big priority for the photographers. Thus unfortunately there will be few pics .

nope, Sino-Steel tower is not in the middle of Tianjin, in fact it's near this construction site, around a 45 min drive from Tianjin city. It's probably at the same stage as this; remember, Binhai New Area was only launched in 2007, so it will take a little while to see "results."

tianjin, china (2007-)
site area: 2.7ha
gross floor area: 223,710m2
type: commercial office, residential,
retail, hotel + business club
this project, which is one of the first developments to be constructed in the new cbd area of binhai-tianjin, is an unusually high-density as well as intricately programmed urban development. the site also incorporates a large public plaza area and has an immediate frontage to the new haihe public riverside promenade.
the project comprises two major towers, both integrated with a 10-level 57,000m2 functionally mixed podium. this is composed of retail, restaurants and a business club, supplemented by a 100-room hotel, conference and business centre and leisure facilities that include a swimming pool, spa and gymnasium. at ground level a large three-storey public galleria links the retail spaces to the office and serviced apartment foyers, providing an event space to support a range of public exposition, exhibition and complementary commercial activities.
the larger, western tower is a 52-floor office tower containing over 105,000m2 of gross floor area whilst the eastern, river-facing tower has 31 upper floor levels of serviced apartments, apartments and top-level penthouse apartments.
the towers and the podium share the same facade design featuring a
large-scale glass weave which provides a distinctive form for the building, whose surface effect at night is exaggerated by a distinctive lighting proposal.
