TORONTO | X Condominiums | 137m | 44 fl | Com

Sorry, but there is very little available regarding renders, etc, so I'll show you where it is being built. The tower is being built here, just south of Bloor Street on Jarvis.

Another building was demolished to make room for this new development.

a bit too boxy for my taste, but the cladding looks good.

I'm looking forward to this one as it's all black. It'll be sexy as the night's sky.

I'm eager to see it too. Many Torontonians know how handsome and rich a black tower can look due to the TD Centre in our city. This one isn't going to be as nice, but the anticipation seems to be quite real amongst many locals.

I think this is one of the sexiest new buildings going up in town. Will look smashing when it is complete.

Mies van der Rohe was meticulous about the materials and fit-and-finish of his buildings and had budgets to match. Can the same be said about X-Condo and, if not, can it really aspire to Miesian elegance and timelessness? Hope so.

X Condominiums is one tower off many Torontonian's radar, but it's finally at grade. It's still not much to look at, but will begin to take shape.

There's no rendering in this thread? Is this the all black tower?

I'm very excited about what I saw today. Very excited.

Not to take away from some of our great glass buildings of late (Murano, Casa, Spire, Union Telus, Pure Spirit, Maple Leaf Square etc.) but it's so refreshing to see something different.

The cladding looks excellent!

Yes it does...better than how I thought it would look from the rendering. The second floor is different from the rest, so I hope the same treatment is going up the entire height (I assume single panes instead of double for the second floor).

I'm really thinking those random coloured bits are going to detract...they seem like trendy ideas that really don't jive with the idea of the Miesian International Style it is obviously inspired by. I'd drop them.

Speaking of Mies & Elkhanan1's comment...lots of people have tried to copy Mies...and most failed (with bigger budgets than this condo too). Think of Seagram and instead of painted aluminum, imagine instead all actual bronze cladding. Seagram wasn't the most expensive building in the world for nothing.

I hope they will be going with travertine walls in the main floor to keep it somewhat authentic.
