You just dont hear bad things about them, unlike almost every other U.S. city.

[QUOTE=philadweller;24266910]I took tons of building shots but thought you guys would be bored. It is the people that make a city. Philadelphia's downtown is very vibrant.

You are so right! I think you captured just the perfect balance between building vs people shots. The results are fantastic....great work!

Excellent thread, philadweller. I'm gonna have to click back to the first page and look at those photos one more time. I love people shots. The more I see of Philly, the more I am surprised by how lively its streets are. There are people EVERYWHERE!

Regarding the pictures of all those people packed in the park like sardines, was there an event going on or is that just how Philly parks get in the summertime?

By the way, I like the comparison you made to Barcelona and Montreal. Those two cities are among my absolute favorites, and I've always felt they are special for similar reasons. I've never thought of Philly as sharing those same qualities, but I think you're right, it does in many respects. I'm going to have to get up to Philly sometime soon. What a great city and a great thread. Thanks again.

Thanks. Rittenhouse Square is usually packed. Center City in the past ten years has dramatically changed in terms of pedestrian activity. I thought the city seemed quiet since it was August. Ed Rendell was a big boost for Philadelphia.

Same here. I like the architecture spanning 250 years. Not bad for the US.

I've been through Philly about 5 times on my way to visit my sister's family in Ocean City, NJ. I never got a chance to actually see the city, even when I attended a Phillies game last summer. Your photos do a great job of capturing the vibrancy of the city, I really had no idea what it was like. Now I will make certain to see it next time I'm there. Looks like an under rated city!!
