For a 850 foot tower, the base doesn't seem to be very deep. strange...

It has a separate parking garage, and those pilings go down to bedrock. Also the road is a good 30 feet up from the bottom look at the crane in that picture and where the road is compared to it.

Yeah, I kind of thought it was shallow too from most of the picture angles. Here is another picture from the same OKCmomentum set at okctalk; it's the best one I've seen to show how deep the site is. If you look at the big equipment or the cars in the Colcord parking lot next door, you can see that it is at least 30-40 feet below the street level. I think the construction walls around the site at the street level are at least 10 feet, and measuring by that it looks like it might even be 50 feet or more down. I was kind of surprised when I saw this picture.

I agree, there is no need to build a deep basement. It is not necessary for the foundations either.

There's a flock of cranes circling the site.

A second tower crane base was set up today, and it looks like the concrete pour for this part of the core/foundation will begin this weekend!

That is a lot of rebar, they almost should be ready to pour the mat. Someone on OKCTalk said this coming Sunday. Can't wait, this one is going fast.

It's a beautiful tower, I just don't understand the location. OKC doesn't need 925 feet. But hey, at least they didn't pull a Dubai and cover any insecurities with a bunch of supertalls :p

Congrats OKC, this is really a beautiful building. Kudos to the architects.

The Devon Tower's new official height will be 850' reduced from 925'.but no sq/footage will be lost, they will build their data center at Will Rogers World airport! Why dont you understand The location? The Nation's largest independent Natural Gas Co.(Devon)is building this tower!OKC's economy is largely based on energy!second only to Houston!

Yes but will the entire tower be occupied by Devon? Because unless they are occupying like, 40+ floors of this tower, I think it would make more sense to make a 500 foot tower that is completely occupied by Devon, i'm guessing office space in Oklahoma City at this time isn't in really high demand.

At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if this tower "makes its own demand". If I have a company in the OKC area, I'd want to be in this building :P

Yes,this tower will be occupied by Devon Energy only!and as for office space avalaible-class A is in high demand, and that's about it!DT and metro wide vaccancy rates have gone down and continue too,but will rise after Devon moves into their new digs!

Devon is a huge company and OK City is their headquarters....I don't see what's so hard to understand.

because the first you think when you say, 'Oklahoma', is the musical. So it hard to think a bunch singing cowboys could build such a nice tower
