On construction cam the city looks very green and it doesn't look like a 500k city at all. The tower has some serious height for such a location, but it's not too tall. Very Good project. Congratulations!

edit: @Culwulla: Maybe you could add a tower we all know. Usually you put something like the Empire in it. I don't know the Chase Tower and I'm not sure if I want to.

OKC has 560k and 1.3 mill Metro, and The web cam is pointed South and all The city's Downtown Core with all The skyscrapers and Highrises are behind(North) of it,this tower is on The Sothern end of The skyline!and also The Empire state building is a Supertall, and is 3-400 feet taller than this tower will be and The Chase and First National buildings are OKC's Two current tallest, but The Devon Tower is a massive and tall building and to be going up in this part of The country is awesome, this will also be The tallest in Oklahoma upon completion, also outside of NY and CHI this is The tallest tower going up in The U.S. right now!

Nice job culwulla. Interesting to see it's progress in a diagram. The core looks massive enough already and the more I look the more astounding the overall size of this thing will be.

devon tower is 57m /187ft wide, only a few meters shorter then freedom tower at 63m/608ft.
very big floor plates for a 250m+ tower.

Thx Calwulla!
It's interesting that ALL of the tallest buildings in the midwest AND west were build in the 70s and 80s. I just found out that the last building with more than 250 meter that has been build there was the US Bank Tower in Los Angeles in 1989. I wasn't aware of that. Actually the Devon HQ is the tallest building to the west of the Mississippi since 21 years. wow!

Yeah we've been in a huge downturn of big buildings cause we overbuilt by a big margin in the 80's. The Museum Tower should start up soon. It will be the tallest here since the 80's.

They've continued to build highrises all over their respective metros and have basically doubled in population. That's all.

Kinda....in 1980 we were at 4 million here....now we're at 6 million. Similar growth for Houston. Most of the towers built have been in Uptown and only 1 of them over 30 something floors. We've had several cancellations over the years, but we recently broke ground on a 560 foot residence tower.

A video of CEO Larry Nichols discussing progress so far and the timeline of future construction of Devon Tower. Progress will now be a rate of one floor every 8 days, meaning the building will reach 500 ft by spring (making it the city's tallest). Not long after that, the building will reach 667 feet and become the tallest building in the state. One year from now in August the building will reach its final height of 850 feet.

Fast schedule....I am planning a trip up there when it gets topped out...it's gonna be a sharp contrast to what is there now and it will change OKC forever. Much more than the 900 footer here did for Dallas.

There are 6 buildings U/C in NYC and a couple of on-hold projects in Chicago like the Spire, so really it's the tallest outside of NYC that is actually u/c.
