Very nice videos Will. Thanks for taking the time to make and post them.

For a small sake of clarity, Robert S. Kerr (at the 12:50 mark) was not mayor but rather Oklahoma Governor and later, United States Senator.

Also, at the 13:00 and 21:29 marks, the building noted as the Petro Building is actually the old Globe Life and Accident Insurance building and parking garage, and is seperate from the old Petro Building, now known as the Dowell Center, adjacent to the west.

Thanks again.

If it doesn't slow down it will probably be closer to the beginning of summer. I'm thinking 12-13 floors will get it there, maybe in 3 months. This thing is going up quick.

Yeah I think it was supposed to be mid-summer (July?) but they are always jumping way ahead of schedule so it could be even sooner. I think it wasn't supposed to hit 500' until March and it's already well past 500. Topout could easily happen by early fall. That's Okie energy company ambition (fresh out of 1980) for you I guess

Great video of one of the best historic blocks remaining in town. Kind of sad that Devon Tower block used to look just as cool 60 years ago... but I'm glad we have Devon Tower now.

---

This tower is very quickly establishing itself more and more as the tallest building in town. Seeing it is an awesome experience, and now that it is the tallest, it is kind of jaw-dropping every time I go by. It's hard to imagine the skyline without Devon now. Here are some photos that caught my eye recently.

This photo is taken from the Lake Hefner dam, a 9 (!) mile crow flight from Devon Tower. Foreground highrises are residential and office buildings are part of the NW Expressway business district. Downtown buildings peek over the ridge, and Devon is going to soar into view over Lake Hefner. From Mrktguy29, Photobucket.

This one wowed me too, by OURulz2000 at OKCTalk. The canyon on Harvey is pretty dramatic now, with the view terminated by the public rotunda of the Devon Tower. The street will be a new "view/pedestrian spine" for downtown, which will extend through a new central park south to the river via a high-design pedestrian bridge over I-40.

Reporter still gets the finished height incorrect saying over 900', even though the manager over the construction just told them 850' when finished.
