Actually, it's likely to take another 2-3 generations after a critical mass of people have prospered within our existing urban environments to create the demand for this to become more popular, sadly. Places like Atlanta and Dallas have turned corners but in most other places there's less pressure for developers to pursue real urban densities. For now most US folks can't envision a real urban lifestyle that includes quality parks and schools for families.

What we need are more residential high rises and/or traditional neighborhoods with brownstones and viable urban densities. It'd be nice if more next tier metros like Oklahoma City, Charlotte and others could begin this trend before the land becomes too expensive to redevelop. But I digress.

This is a nice building for O-City. Clean form and elegant visual statements.

Check it out.. A capture from Unfrskn's video, showing exactly that in downtown OKC. The construction site in the foreground is a new apartment development, the new 4-story brick building is recently completed condos, brownstones are next door to the right. Charlotte has plenty of similar examples.

Different angle showing brownstones

I helped a friend move to OKC this weekend. He moved downtown to Park Harvey and I got a fantastic view of Devon. First time seeing it and I was in awe everytime i caught a glimpse of it. I took tons of pics and blew up everyones cell coast to coast with pictures.
Heres a few shots I got with my Blackberry camera I didn't have much time for nice photos with a real camera:

Thanks! WIsh I had my good camera with me. I did enjoy OKC! I always do! I used to live in Tulsa so I know OKC fairly well and was showing him around.
My friend moved from Ft. Lauderdale to Oklahoma and he's excited about living in OKC.
We didn't hit BT but I showed him around downtown, the Asian District, Paseo, NW Expressway, Lake Hef etc....
I told him about C2S, Crosstown moving and all the good things to come. He's 29 and I think he will settle in OKC by the sound of it.

What are the streets that bound NW 16th so I can tell him which area to head toward? I'll be down in OKC a lot more now that he's living there with a front row seat to Devon from his apartment building.

There's no less than three skyscrapers hidden behind this tower.
