Touring Devon Tower: Oklahoma's Tallest Building

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Devon Tower is now the tallest building in the state of Oklahoma, surpassing Tulsa's 667-foot Bank of Oklahoma Tower. But the Devon building is not finished growing.

The impressive skyscraper is closing in on a planned height of 850 feet and 50 stories, but also impressive is the "bucket hoist" that takes workers and executives straight up the side of the building. It goes up to the 37th floor, where the Oklahoma wind whips by at furious speeds.

Tornadoes are like stray bullets. The tornado passed NW of the metro, and a bad front came in from the south where I live but just hailed and had strong winds. Never turned into anything.

Congrats on the title of tallest in OK.

And that weather was nasty for a while.

Why would they change it or not announce it?

What is the reasoning?

It'd make it taller than 9 other buildings in the US is one reason

If they do decide to go up to 890, they definitely will need some sort of fill in residential tower or something...

I hope it no less than the original 925', but I am hoping for Supertall status 984'/300m or even better, 1000' (hey, go 1010' to beat Houston). ....

I can dream, but nevertheless - whatever the final height, 850+/260m+; very impressive and good for OKC and Oklahoma!!

It definitely does not look like they have changed the floor configurations yet, so I wouldn't be surprised that it will be 'longer' until T/O.

One more interesting 'coincidence' with the 890 feet rumor, Oklahoma City was established in 1889 - so I could see 890 feet definitely happen since there will be observation and restaurant on top.

On that note, why not go for 989 feet.
