Information from Pete Brzycki on okctalk from Aug 17th. Final confirmation of height and floor count.

"Finally got my hands on a detailed drawing and can confirm the final height of the building will be 844 feet.

More specific details:

Levels 1-6: 20 feet
Levels 7-46: 14 feet 8 inches
Levels 47-50 (will be labeled 47, 49, 50 and 51): 19 feet 6 inches
Crown (labeled 52): 59 feet 3 inches

Not counting the first steel going in for the crown, we are at 784 feet currently:"

I like the tower, and I appreciate the fact the OKC is focused on remainging a less dense urban city by building up and not developing more towers that have less height in the Downtown area. I get it...don't say that I totally agree with it, but, every city is nicely unique in its' own way. It's an attractive tower for OKC, which is a really good thing, but, it wouldn't stand a chance of approval from anyone in New Orleans. And I don't think anyone on this board would like to see something like that in New Orleans either. Dallas may like it....

I respect your post, but do you have any idea what this tower being built did for the entire downtown area? The taxes from this tower were implemented into a TIF called Project 180 wich will re design almost every downtown street into more pedestrian friendly streets, including bike lanes, onstreet parking, new stoplights, lighting, sidewalks, landscaping!Infact Project 180 is America's largest ever streets and beutification project ever undertaken!Project 180 also overhauled the Myriad Gardens,so if Devon didnt build this tower than all this would not have been possible, and btw The fact IS that OKC is now becoming a MORE dense urban area with Huge growth in it's core, remember before this tower on the same exact spot was just a parking lot and parking garage, and in the very near future this immediate area will have a new convention center,dt Elementary, streetcar stops and not to mention it's right near the Chesapeake arena and Cox convention center! http://okc180.com/

Sean,I'm sure if a company wanted to build a 750 Million$ tower, and used the taxes generated to re-do most of dt New Orleans streets then it would get approved even in NO!

I can appreciate Sean's opinion and probably agree that such a tower would not be built in New Orleans. And I also agree that it is perfect for OKC, and is stimulating additional development in the core.

It is great to see cities grow and prosper, and I am glad it is my hometown stepping to the plate in many ways - not just this tower. If it weren't so darn hot there and if my company would see to it - I'd return 'home' in a heartbeat and be part of the excitement.

Oh well, OKC will have to settle on my being an annual visitor/tourist and hometown expat.

Why was the height shortened? Granted, not by anything significant, but why?

I believe it's due to the restuarant levels at the top.

For security reasons, they decided to locate their data center in a separate facility by Will Rogers World Airport.
