Calcutta served as the capital of the British empire in India from 1772 till 1912 before the capital was moved to Delhi. It went on to become the second city of the British empire during which there were numerous structures built combining primarily Victorian, Gothic & Indian elements in their overall structure

St.Paul Cathedral

Built in 1847, the style of architecture is Gothic Revival

Mckinnon & Mckenzie House

Built in 1927, it is currently being renovated and would eventually be converted to a mall. The Future group is expected to have a large stake in the edifice.

The East India Company governed the subcontinent from Dalhousie Square which is a heritage site declared by the World Monuments Fund

Wallace House near Dalhousie Square

Built in ~1911, it was the erstwhile headquarters of Shaw Wallace & co. Today it is the headquarters of the UB group in the Eastern region.

Victoria Memorial

Built between 1906 and 1921 on the lines of the Taj Mahal, in memory of Queen Victoria. The architectural style is similar to the Belfast City Hall. The monument incorporates European and Indian elements.

More than a century old , this landmark building housing more than 50 offices in Dalhousie square is being restored following the fire which broke out a few years back.

Established around 1933, it houses the office of Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation.
