Yeah, and they couldn't be more different this year. ITV have gone for a full movie-trailer length promo!

I'm sure our Polish and Ukrainian members will be able to tell you the situation re: any dedicated broadcast centre that may have been built. I do know though that the BBC will be presenting from MediaCityUK, in Salford. They will not have a studio in either of the host nations for this tournament.

really? thats a massive let down! i think that part of the enjoyment of tournaments like these is seeing the pundits in the country(ies) experiencing the atmosphere and culture.. i also read an article on ticket sales for travelling fans which are not looking too smart either. it's sad that both these countries have put in so much effort yet people seem to want to stay away..

BBC Sport's decision is due to budget cuts plus the pressures of covering a Home Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee in the same summer. What this basically means is the match analysis and coverage will be done from a studio in the UK rather than from a studio like the one, for example, overlooking Table Mountain in South Africa. There will still be some BBC Sport presenters in Poland/Ukraine that they can cut to during this coverage, just not a studio.

i understand that loud and clear and i understand the reasons, its still sad though. this is why, since i've moved to ireland, i've always preferred to watch the bbc and itv's coverage of football over rte (the national broadcaster) because i enjoy watching coverage that comes from the countries.

Thank to you bro one of the threads about EURO, had been already closed (by South African mod by the way) (you were so kind to call oponents to your opinions - twats, idiots etc.).
Why don't you just go and spare us your crap. Thanks very much for getting lost , I hope

Fans would love to have gone. Sadly UEFA block booked every single hotel Donetsk for themselves and sponsors, leaving absolutely nothing for the travelling fan.

Hotel prices in Kiev were also ramped up to ridiculous levels, again partly due to UEFA reserving so much for themselves.

It's also an expensive and time-consuming place to travel around because Ukraine is such a huge country. Kiev to Donetsk is as far as London to Glasgow. Planes are expensive. Trains are cheaper, but infrequent and impossible to book more than about a month in advance, making planning difficult.

Donetsk, where England play two games, is also an industry city offering almost nothing for the tourist either in the city or nearby. Lonely Planet lists only three sights for the city - the Donbass Arena, an art museum, and the slag heaps that surround the city.

Quite simply people looked at the cost involved, and the hassle of the trip overall, and decided it just wasn't worth it.

IBCs (International Broadcast Center) are located in Warsaw and Kiev. In Warsaw it is Expo XXI (http://www.expoxxi.pl/). UEFA created here such a "mini city" for producers, TV stations, and telco infrastructure. (It's funny to see about 1000 working people from all around the world travelling in IBC by scooters ;-)). But IMO there is no TV studios (only Al Jazeera and ARD have enough space here to make a studio, but I didn't saw anything like that). Only technical staff.
