well done to both the poles and russian's in this forum for completely ruining both their countries images in my eyes. maybe the bbc was right? because looking at some of the comments towards each other here there is a lot of xenophobia and racism involved. maybe this thread should be cleaned up and locked up?

Is it safe to say that both nations have serious problems with hooliganism/racism around football and that dealing with them really should have been mandatory as soon as they were awarded major events if it wasnt already.

Yes I'm british and yes we had terrible problems with hooliganism/racism in football in the past but those problems were acknowledged and have mostly been delt with in recent years. Thoughout much of eastern and southern europe though it seems to be "heads in the sand" with nationalistic press and public unwilling to look the problems dead in the eye, at least going from alot of the posting I see in this forum.

It's almost as if we didn't have two brilliant football matches yesterday.

The police are looking for Russian hools, what's the big surprise 4 were arrested earlier in the day for smashing up a restaurant.

What's the big surprise about this:
Quote:
About 50 hooligans punch and kick foreign supporters at a pub in Lodz, Poland

Masked thugs targeted fans speaking English and Russian

This is problem created mainly by BBC. Really.
No it wasnt, we've now seen that even within a much mroe tighly controled enviroment of euro 2012 holliganism clearly exists in Poland.

Quote:
We almost have no black people here. If they are they are sudent's and as long as I live I have never heard about any serious problems with racism.
Well this is taking the discussion into a much wider area of society as a whole, I'm sure the vast majority of Poles arent racist but again I think its clearly clear that polish ultra nationalism exists and has attached itself to football.

Quote:
And it this pretty pathetic to hear arrogant criticism from country that has rich and bright colonial history and earned millions trading black people as slaves all round the world.

For us it's comparable to hear some complain about polish anti-semitism from... Germany.

Maybe sometimes some stupid idiot (which are in every nation) will make stupid jokes. But we didn't invented human trafficking or gas chambers.

And that's all I got to say about this topic.

Germans - better keep quiet about anti-semitism. British - keep quiet about racism.

Maybe we are not angels. But we proved that there is a long way from stupid jokes to make real troubles while Brits, Germans have really DARK pages in their history.
This is exactly the mindset I'm talking about, looking to drag up history and create scapegoats elsewhere to avoid having to deal with problems that exist today, you think exactly the same arguements werent used by the british empire and the nazi's to justify their actions?

The reality is that Poland today has a serious holliganism problem that England does not, you should be looking to deal with this problem rather than looking to dismiss it because it offends your inflated sense of nationalism.

Quote:
And about Poles vs. Russians. Maybe it would be easier for Brits to understand what's going on when we will compare this to the situation between Irish people and Brits. Do they like Brits in Ireland? I don't think so. Am I right?

But still - we don't have IRA, we don't make bombs and terrorism. We liberated world from communism in peacefull way. So stop this criticism. Stop provoking. Enjoy Euro and ignore drunken idiots. Police will take care of them.
This is where your wrong, I'd not expect any trouble between English and Irish fans because neither nation has the same problems with hooliganism that many others do.

the irish don't actually have any problem with the british anymore. in fact, the 2 cultures co-exist side by side with a heavy influence from each pervading over both nations. you'd never see anything like the tribalism i've witnessed on these forums in the last 2 days when it comes to irish/british relations. i dont even know where this all came from anyways, it was fairly peaceful around here until yesterday.

Either the ridiculous political fighting in this thread stops IMMEDIATELY, or automatic infractions will be given out. Certain individuals should note that due to the large number of infractions they already have, any further infractions could lead to banning so PLEASE keep the discussion here limited to FOOTBALL.

I guess no one bothered to read my warning I posted this morning, so if everyone is going to be this childish then this thread is closed. Shame on everyone who politicized this football thread.
